Broadband ISP and UK network builder Brsk, which is deploying their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the Midlands and beyond (rollout plan), has today revealed that they’re launching their own co-branded pay TV product powered by Netgem’s IPTV platform.

The operator, which is being fuelled by investment worth at least £259m, tends to focus its network roll-out on parts of Greater Manchester, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and the West Midlands in England. Brsk holds a long-term aim of passing 1 million homes by 2026 and some of their locations include Cottingley, Keighley and Bingley, Clayton, Allerton & Sandy Lane, Bradford, Accrington and many more.

NOTE: Brsk is supported by funding from Advencap and the Ares Management Corp.

As for Netgem, their TV-as-a-Service has already been adopted by a number of other UK ISPs and alternative networks. The set-top-boxes that they provide (they also have a mobile app), such as the Netbox 4K (inc. HDR, bluetooth pairing, Ethernet, WiFi, USB and Dolby Atmos sound), tend to be similar to some of those supplied by rival streaming companies and include the usual array of premium content, Apps, live TV (Freeview etc.) and catch-up content.

The new partnership thus aims to enhance brsk’s broadband service by offering an optional integrated TV solution, named “BetterTV.”

The Better TV service includes:

+225 Live channels including 125 HD channels in addition to Freeview – with 45+ channels dedicated to sport such as MLB.TV, The Rugby Network and Pop kids.

+100 Apps and Streaming services

+30 Games

+125 Extra HD Channels

100,000 hours of included content, with 25 Freeview Play catch-up services such as ITVX & BBC iPlayer, and access to a library of included shows and movies such as YouTube, TikTok, Filmzie and Wedomovies.

Unlimited mobile TV devices (Tablet, Mobile phones)

Alexa Voice activated compatible

Bluetooth ready

Giorgio Iovino, CEO of brsk, said: “As a customer-obsessed organisation, we’re always looking for ways to enhance our overall offering. And when that means we need to find partners, we make sure they are like-minded. The Netgem team has impressed us because they place the end-user at the core, delivering an elegantly simple solution that offers real value. We look forward to BetterTV being yet another reason for people to switch to brsk.”

The announcement doesn’t mention how much the extra service will cost, although if it’s anything like the other implementations we’ve seen then customers who adopt it will need to pay around an extra £8 per month. But it is also possible to just pick up the Netgem 4K TV box on Amazon for £149 (here).

UPDATE 6th Jan 2024

The service costs an extra £10 per month to add.

      I agree with you

The only thing good about the Netgem 4K TV Boxes is the Smurfs TV Channel
      and the MLB Channel

There is a problem with the Netgem 4K TV Boxes
they do not display the following TV Channels
    from Freeview
I got my Box through Community Fibre

    The Channels are

Together TV on Freeview Channel Number 83
Together TV +1 on Freeview Channel Number 285

I have sent numerous E – Mails to Netgem,
    to their different departments

It is much better to buy the Humax Aura Box
as these Boxes do display those channels
I have had to replace my Netgem Boxes
    with the Humax Aura Boxes

Together TV? Never even heard of it. I suspect I’m not missing much.

Together TV used to be called
      the Community Channel on Cable

i can kind of understand why they are doing this, but the TV service need to be worth the money and that box is not worth the money

It seems to me a bummer that the Netgem box only has one tuner. This means that you can only watch or record one channel at a time. If you want to watch a different channel while recording, you will need to stop recording the current channel.

There’s no Netflix, Disney or Now TV. Which is odd because the TT version has Netflix and Now.

Without the Netflix what’s the point might as well buy a £30 fire stick. What’s a pointless waste money.
