Broadband ISP and network builder Brsk, which is rolling out a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the Midlands (rollout plan), has announced that their network is expanding into Cheshire and one of the first locations to start going live is the market town and civil parish of Wilmslow – home to 26,000 people.
The operator, which is supported by investment worth at least £259m, tends to focus its network on parts of Greater Manchester, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and the West Midlands in England. Brsk holds a long-term aim of passing 1 million homes by 2026 and some of their locations include Cottingley, Keighley and Bingley, Clayton, Allerton & Sandy Lane, Bradford, Accrington and many more.
The launch of full fibre in Wilmslow will ultimately enable brsk to connect more than 15,000 new homes to better broadband. The announcement notes that “this infrastructure will have a huge impact on the town, where full fibre access is currently less than 35%.” But that only reflects Openreach’s rival FTTP build and it should be noted that Virgin Media’s gigabit-capable network also covers around 60% of the town.

Not only are brsk enabling the majority of Southern Greater Manchester – in addition to Wilmslow, Altrincham and Stockport – with access to full fibre, they have shared further plans regarding their deployment. They will shortly be expanding to serve even more residents across Greater Manchester, with plans to roll out gigabit connectivity in Ashton-Under-Lyne in East Manchester imminently.
Gareth Cornelius, brsk Regional Head for Manchester, said:
“With the success of our build across Greater Manchester over the last 18 months, we are excited to be expanding across the region and into Cheshire as we grow our footprint across the North West of England, bringing residents a much-needed upgrade to their connectivity.”
Prices typically start from £25 per month (currently discounted to £18) for an unlimited 100Mbps symmetric speed package (inc. a free installation and router), which rises to £49 for their top 900Mbps package (currently discounted to £30). In addition, there’s also a “guarantee” of “no price rises” during that term and most plans are currently running price discounts.
