Mobile operator Vodafone has today launched their “Connected Spaces Vision” plan, which offers unlimited data to business customers that need to live stream video from IoT smart surveillance cameras over a mobile broadband (4G or 5G) network. But this is more than just a mobile plan, it’s a suit of video security features.
The new service is said to combine the operator’s AI-powered wireless video streaming codecs from Digital Barriers (company) with new or existing camera technology, which claims to work by providing what traditional wireless CCTV often cannot – secure cloud storage and real-time alerts (of people & vehicle detection), while also reducing data transmission costs through video compression.
Just to be clear, the new solution works with standard IP cameras too, enabling them with analytics, so customers don’t need to rip out and replace their existing kit. This is best suited for businesses that have remote, mobile and temporary operations, where conventional wired CCTV cannot be deployed easily and/or cost effectively (e.g. construction sites, utilities deployments, local government etc.).

Andy May, Head of Products & Services at Vodafone Business, said:
“The market for CCTV in the UK continues to grow and with Vodafone Connected Spaces Vision we want to help businesses tackle the biggest obstacles to managing their CCTV estate with reliable connectivity, real-time intelligence, and predictable costs. Utilising Vodafone’s leading IoT network, and Digital Barrier’s patented compression technology, will give customers real-time alerts where and when it matters most.”
According to Vodafone’s website, the related bundles are priced from less than £30 +vat per month.
Umm, interesting.
Well that’s a pointless article because they offer unlimited data anyway. You go and buy an unlimited data SIM put it in your camera and you’re done I don’t understand the article?
