The Telcom Group, which via its various sub-brands (ClearFibre, WeFibre, HyperCity etc.) operates a mix of fixed wireless access (FWA) and gigabit-capable “full fibre” broadband and Ethernet networks across parts of England, has today announced the appointment of Elliott Mueller to be the company’s new CEO.

Elliot is an experienced leader who previously served as CEO of several other notable organisations in the telecommunications sector, such as JT Global, Metronet and Tele2. He replaces Telcom’s former CEO and co-founder, Shaun Gibson, who appears to have exited the role in November 2023 (today’s press release makes no mention of Shaun).

NOTE: Telcom secured an investment boost of £63m from Gresham House in 2021. Gresham House made a further investment in October 2023 to enable Telcom to acquire Luminet.

In addition, Steve Best has also been appointed as a Non-Executive Director. He has previously served on the boards or held executive leadership roles with major UK telecom companies, including EE and BT.

Chris Baldock, Chairman of Telcom, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Elliott as our new CEO and we are confident that we have made the perfect appointment for Telcom. Elliott is a dynamic, values-driven business leader with a diverse background of experiences and an excellent track record of delivery in the telecommunications sector. The Board looks forward to working with Elliott to deliver the full potential of Telcom for business customers across the UK.”

Elliott Mueller, CEO of Telcom, said:

“I am delighted to have been appointed to lead Telcom. The business has an impressive UK footprint, a strong brand portfolio, a talented team, and an enviable reputation. The company continues its focus on building its solutions for business customers and I am looking forward to working with the team.”

The news, while positive, does come shortly after one of the group’s brands (WeFibre) appeared to step back from some of its planned broadband deployments in rural parts of Wales (here).
