Honest Mobile Reduces UK 4G and 5G Plan Prices for Loyal Customers

Crowdfunded mobile network operator Honest Mobile, which harnesses Three UK’s network via a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement, has today announced that they’re bucking the industry trend of annual price hikes by decreasing some of their prices for “loyal customers“.

In short, the longer customers stay with Honest Mobile, the greater their discount, with customer bills dropping every month until they’ve saved as much as 30% (i.e. bills for existing customers drop by 0.41% every month you stay with Honest Mobile).

Andy Aitken, co-founder and CEO of Honest, said: “The bar has never been set lower by broadband and mobile network providers. And the most recent spring budget confirmed that no action will be taken to protect customers from further unethical inflation-linked price hikes, despite notable people calling for more legislation. We built Honest on the idea that telecoms could, and should, be better. We want to put an end to the complex and unpredictable contracts that catch consumers out. In our eyes, part of that starts with thanking and rewarding customers for their loyalty.”

The plans include:

Unlimited data, UK messages and minutes: Drops from £25 to £17.50 with the loyalty discount

10GB data, unlimited UK messages and minutes: Drops from £17.50 to £13.50 with the loyalty discount

4GB data, unlimited UK messages and minutes: Drops from £13.50 to £9.45 with the loyalty discount

However, while the proposed approach sounds good on paper, it’s worth noting that the post-discount pricing is not as attractive as some of Three UK’s other MVNO providers (e.g. Smarty, iD Mobile etc.). For example, both of those alternative operators will give you 5GB of data and unlimited calls/texts from just £6 per month.

Is that 6 years you need to be a customer to get the best rates? That’s quite a long time

The 4GB package is 63 months for a 23% discount.

87 months for the top package and 30% discount.

Or go straight to id mobile and get it for £15 from the start

This. If you’re going to use Three then ID are probably the best of the bunch, as much as I hate to say anything positive about a company owned by Currys/Dixons.

If it wasn’t the the call quality issues with EE numbers ported to Three and calls from EE users to Three, I’d probably still be using them.

      Was thinking exactly the same

I get 50Gb for £8 per month from ID. How is Honest a better deal?

      With unlimited calls and texts

    honestly, its quite misleading.

So basically, stay with Honest mobile for 30+ months and your bill for unlimited data will drop to £17.50… Alternatively just sign up for iD mobile or Smarty via uSwitch in a 1 month rolling contract and get unlimited data for £15 and £16 respectively! Andy Aitken needs to give his head a wobble!

10GB for £13 doesn’t seem like a cheap price, especially for the three network. I think even SMARTY is cheaper (60GB for £10 for example) and thats not restricted to a subset of customers that’s for everyone.
