Mobile network operator giffgaff has recently launched a temporary new 40GB (data) contract deal for just £12 a month on an 18-month term – available to both new and existing customers, which also comes with free UK texts, calls and 5GB of inclusive EU roaming allowance.
The catch is that this new plan will only be available to order until 14th July 2024. After their launch offer ends, the contract plan goes back to 27GB for £12. Giffgaff is a virtual mobile operator (MVNO) on O2’s (VMO2) national UK infrastructure.
Poor value, Lebara [Vodafone] do 50GB 5G data [30GB of which can be used in EU roaming], Unlimited UK mins / text and 100 International mins for £9 per month on a 30 day rolling contract.
Even cheaper deals are available if you’re willing to change SIM every 3 to 6 months.
I haven’t paid more than £2 per month for my mobile usage in the last 5 or 6 years, frequently paying mere pennies per month. Currently getting 15GB 5G data [all of which can be used in EU roaming], Unlimited UK mins / text and 100 International mins for £1.49 per month for six months.
without Wifi Calling I am not sure how anyone would want to use Giffgaff now, good they launched eSim now, but the stack they run on with o2 is way outdated.
Doesn’t seem particularly competitive, especially for an MVNO
Is it possible to use that much data in a month on O2s speeds? :-p
18 month contracts are a bit of a way away from the old GiffGaff ‘with no contract, you’re free to go and free to stay’ days!
No WiFi Calling, no eSIM.
If any of those are important to you, you won’t switch to Giffgaff.
