Alternative network operator Netomnia (YouFibre), which as part of the Brsk merger (here) have extended their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP infrastructure to cover c.1.6 million UK premises passed (RFS), has today joined the Fibre Cafe‘s (Strategic Imperatives) connectivity aggregation platform.
Fibre Cafe’s platform was designed to tackle the integration and automation challenges for broadband ISPs when onboarding new networks (e.g. common processes, a national availability checker, alternative network agnostic order journeys and a unified interface etc.), whilst enabling such operators to more easily bring their own wholesale propositions to market.
Jeremy Chelot, CEO of Netomnia and Brsk, said: “Joining The Fibre Café opens up new avenues for collaboration with more ISPs and service providers. Leveraging Strategic Imperatives’ platform allows us to accelerate onboarding and connect more homes to our full-fibre network. With a goal to serve 1 million customers by 2028 and 162,000 already on the platform, we’re eager to work closely with Strategic Imperatives to deliver an unparalleled internet experience, while driving innovation and fostering further consolidation among Altnets.”

The figure of 162,000 customers also represents a nice increase from the 140,000 recorded on 15th June 2024.
Trying to understand if this is just Netomnia or does this include Brsk too? I’ve read they are planning on launching a new wholesale platform next month
Due to the merger, it will inevitably mean both.
I admire Netomnia CEO for ambition, but hope he is mindful of not over stretching too quickly, so the likes of VM can pounce (or Sky f they suddenly wanted physical infrastructure).
Now, although they promised Green Lane CT16 via delivered letter and their online checkers for some time, and only delivered to the next road, I am still hopeful they will do my road as FTTC is dire on the upload here and VM is VM with all its issues. Even though this was not done, I still would like them to be successful as this company seems to be forward thinking with new technology.
@anonymous just checked for you and it’s in design phase just now
Wow! Great news if so.
Most of the houses are FTTC, as VM has “issues”, shall we say, so hopefully a number will jump over. I came off VM due to prices being ridiculous post new customer (£78 for GIG1) and ping times being high (probably over utilisation), BUT the FTTC is like 6mbps upload if you are lucky as it does vary – so useless for cloud storage for example or multiple people working from home doing video calls and security cameras uploading video.
They could also find new contractors for network build… .
Here, in Wisbech, Cambs P(E13) contractors done half of town, connected even my road, but on main road left cables in poles for splicing and, that’s it. Nearly 2 years nothing happening. Just promises… .
I was bit lucky, got at least OpenReach network.
Existing Virgin 1 Gb/s, but unable to rely on that network so it’s not an option.
Hopefully this will also help with the stumbling blocks in their builds. As Nexfibre are all over Wrexham County like a rash, yet Netomnia/YouFibre don’t seem to be moving along at all.
Why would Netomnia bother then? VM are XGS-PON for Nexfibre with symmetric options and an established known brand. Although they could operate cheaper and undercut, it is still a risk.
Perhaps they have reviewed your area and decided not to go ahead because of VM and possibly Openreach plans for build?
Virgin Media using Nexfibre have M125 and M250 services and both can give you PARITY if you pay for the upload upgrade.
Perfect for a big spending 150 Mb user like yourself entitled to more than just the Openreach full fibre you have now.
Yes, reader, this guy complaining at every opportunity already has full fibre and was last seen complaining because Openreach haven’t announced symmetrical on their 160 Mb package. He demands parity with gigabit Openreach customers without paying for it.
Still waiting in Ullswater Close, BB1 area for BRSK! Surrounding areas are live but not mine yet.
Is there a list of networks which are part of Fibre Cafe?
Per above “TalkTalk, CommunityFibre, Freedom Fibre, BTWholesale, CityFibre, MS3, Trooli, OFNL and xln”
That’s “some of Fibre Cafe’s members”. I think TalkTalk and xln are ISPs rather than networks. I was hoping that there might be a membership list somewhere.
Me too is waiting for Green lane CT16.
Wishing to dump VM at the earliest opportunity.
Any news for before December 2024?
Thanks in advance.
Platform X Communications offer some services via Fibre Cafe and are building up to meeting consumer and business ISP Partner demand better in the near future with an improved API set. The list of suppliers and Partners is growing.
