The Independent Networks Co-operative Association (INCA) has today revealed the list of winners from their annual 2024 INCA Awards event, which aims to recognise and celebrate the top alternative networks (altnets) and ISPs from across the UK. Suffice to say that it was a good night for Brsk (Netomnia), Ogi, Quickline, Wessex Internet and others.
As usual, the winners were all decided by a panel of five “independent” industry judges (here), which included a mix of people from various network operators, consultancy and analyst firms.
The awards were then handed down last night at INCA Summit’s Award dinner in Wales. “The Altnets have continually shown that they are not only ensuring greater choice for broadband consumers, but that their role towards advancing the UK’s broadband infrastructure and digital ecosystem is critical,” said INCA CEO Paddy Paddison. “INCA’s annual awards give us the opportunity to unite the sector and celebrate the outstanding achievements and dedication of the organisations and individuals improving fibre and gigabit access.”

Congratulations to all the winners
How much did they have to pay for the table for the dinners before they won the awards?
These ‘awards’ are absoliutely worthless.
It is investors money, nothing to worry about… oh wait.
There is a serious element to these awards, despite a lot of skepticism. It is an opportunity for altnets to showcase elements of their work that they feel worthy of recognition. Perhaps this in turn incentivizes their competitors to respond and raise their game, I’d like to think they have some impact. Judging the relevant merits of competing entries is a challenge, but a good bit of effort goes into trying to tease out real delivery as against pure aspiration and unproven claims. So in the end the awards do go to those who are trying, and succeeding, in pushing good things. No one is paid to do the judging and as far as I know there are no costs to the awards other than time and good will donated. Neither do the judges have any idea of who has or hasn’t bought tables so awards cannot be bought.
All in all I agree that its a bit of fun but given the state of the world what’s wrong with that!
@Barry Forde
How can you say “it’s a bit of fun” when companies pay thousands of pounds to be members, have to pay to attend the awards, etc.
It’s not just a bit of fun, it’s making money out of nothing, meaningless awards.
Are they friends with ISPA and drink together or they are enemies?
Everyone’s getting bored of these meaningless awards, one after another.
Boozy night out paid for by the investors, get your photo taken with arms around everyone.
Laughable!
