Hampshire-based alternative network operator and UK ISP toob, which has built a gigabit speed full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across parts of South England and also harnesses CityFibre’s network in other areas, has this morning announced that they’ve just added 33 new towns and cities (1.1 million additional premises) to their coverage via CityFibre.
The alternative network operator is currently being financed through equity from funds managed and advised by the Amber Infrastructure Group, as well as a large amount of debt financing provided by Ares Management’s Infrastructure Debt (here). At the end of 2023 this mix of equity and debt reflected a total commitment of £395 million.
However, toob both builds their own Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure and also holds a network partnership with CityFibre, with the latter helping to expand their coverage well beyond what they’ve already built (CF also gained reciprocal access to toob’s network). As a result of today’s development, toob’s packages can now be purchased in many towns and cities across a total of 33 additional UK locations (1.1 million more homes).

Emma Goodwin, Sales Director of Consumer ISPs at CityFibre, said:
“It’s great to see toob growing with us and extending their footprint across the CityFibre network. This expansion will bring full fibre connectivity to even more homes, helping to unlock faster speeds and greater reliability. We’re proud to be driving greater choice and innovation in the broadband market and excited to see our partnership with toob go from strength to strength.”
Toob is currently only charging new customers from just £18 per month for symmetric speeds of 150Mbps and just £25 for 1Gbps on an 18-month term, which includes unlimited usage, a wireless router, free installations and a promise of no in-contract price hikes. This makes them one of the UK’s cheapest broadband providers.
That is a very aggressive price for 1gb!
It is, my 1GB with VM when I downgraded from TV and sports is £48 a month!
I just got connected Today 900meg £22 pm 18 month contract fixed price
Be aware they use CGNAT which causes issues for PS5 online play and remote access etc. A static IP to remedy costs an extra £8 per month.
