A team from the University of Birmingham‘s School of Engineering in England has developed a new beam-steering antenna for future 5G and 6G mobile (mobile broadband) networks, which claims to have achieved “vast improvements in data transmission efficiency” via a range of frequencies that are “inaccessible” to existing technologies.

CityFibre has announced “one of Europe’s largest ever Full Fibre financings” by completing a debt raise worth a staggering £4.9bn. The deal enables them to complete their plan to cover 8 million UK premises with gigaibt-capable FTTP broadband and to bid on contract’s under the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit scheme for rural areas.

Macquarie Capital backed UK ISP Voneus, which has a “near term” plan to cover 100,000 homes in UK rural areas (here) with their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (they also operate a Fixed Wireless Access service), has revealed that they’re looking to cover 10,500 homes in North Pembrokeshire (Wales).

London-focused UK broadband ISP CommunityFibre (CF) has today launched a new premium and guaranteed ‘Wi-Fi in Every Room‘ (mesh network) service. The operator’s multi-gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network currently covers 500,000 homes and aims to reach 2.2 million in the city by the end of 2024.

CityFibre has today announced a new “blanket wayleave agreement” with the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands (England), which will enable their existing £25m rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the town to reach 4,000 Solihull Community Housing tenants.
