Macquarie Capital backed UK ISP Voneus, which has a “near term” plan to cover 100,000 homes in UK rural areas (here) with their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (they also operate a Fixed Wireless Access service), has revealed that they’re looking to cover 10,500 homes in North Pembrokeshire (Wales).
At present there is very little detail available on the operator’s wider rollout plan, but one of the first areas to benefit is expected to be the village of Letterston and surrounding communities. The deployment in this part of Wales is said to form part of their wider commitment to cover more than 51,000 homes in South and West Wales over the next 2 years.
Customers currently pay from £34.99 per month on a 24-month term for a symmetric speed of 100Mbps and that goes up to £59.99 for their top 900Mbps plan. The service includes unlimited usage and a wireless router.
Andrew Phillips, Leader of Voneus’ Community Engagement Team in Wales, said:
“Having grown up in the county as well as having worked hard to bring solutions to hard-to-reach communities like Letterston, it is clear there is a massive demand for better broadband speeds in Pembrokeshire, which is why these events are vital.
Our drop-in session aims to give local people a chance to meet us and learn all about what it is we do, as well as ask any questions they may have about bringing fibre broadband into their homes and businesses.
We are committed to ensuring no one is penalised just because of where they live when it comes to broadband, and engaging communities like Letterston is an integral part to ensuring we all are working to bring about a better-connected tomorrow.”
Hopefully Voneus will eventually share a more detailed deployment plan, since it’s often difficult to figure out precisely where they’re available.
