UK ISP BT Consumer has today announced that they’re re-introducing 12-month contract terms as an option for new customers, although naturally you can expect to pay a few £ pounds more for these every month than their current headline deals, which sit on much longer 24-month terms.

Mobile operator EE (BT) has today announced that they’ve upgraded the mobile data (broadband) capacity of their 4G network in many of the UK’s “most popular coastal locations“, in anticipation of a bumper “staycation summer“. On top of that, they’ve also switched-on ultrafast 5G in 9 similar locations.

After a long wait, UK ISP BT has today finally announced the launch of a new set-top-box for their broadband-based Pay TV (IPTV) service – TV Box Pro, which among other things will finally add WiFi and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video support. But you’ll need a wait for the wireless networking to be ready.

Alternative network ISP Truespeed, which is supported by £75m from Aviva Investors, has confirmed that they’ve started work on their build of a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the Somerset city of Bath, which will also include the surrounding areas of Keynsham, Saltford and South Widcombe.

CityFibre UK has today confirmed that they’ve started work on their new £21m project to build a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the cathedral city of Worcester in Worcestershire (England), which is home to a population of over 100,000.

Broadband ISP BT has announced that they’re launching the next generation (v2.0) of their smart Street Hub WiFi kiosks (formerly InLinkUK), which will be installed in various urban areas and can now also be used to boost 4G and 5G mobile signals via the inclusion of small cells. You also get ultrafast WiFi, just as before.

A new Opinium survey from Uswitch, which was conducted with 2,003 people who moved house in the last 5 years (surveyed between 11th to 17th May 2021), has estimated that more than 1 million Britons who moved in the last year waited 8 days on average for their broadband ISP to be connected.

BT has announced that they’ve begun trials of a new type of hollow core optical fibre cable at their BT Labs R&D facility in Adastral Park (Ipswich), which could in theory be more resistant to damage, while also delivering better performance (e.g. latency) for future broadband ISP and mobile connectivity services.
