A new study from UK broadband provider Plusnet has run the 20 most populous EU countries through ten varied ranking factors in order to find out which of them best meets the demands of remote workers in 2019. The outcome sees the Netherlands coming top, with the United Kingdom placing 4th.

The founder of Carphone Warehouse and sibling UK ISP TalkTalk, Sir Charles Dunstone, is reportedly trying to raise £400m in equity and £600m in debt to fund their as yet unrealised plans for a roll-out of Gigabit capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband to 3 million premises. Separately SSE may sell off their retail ISP business.

Jeff will take over the position from Lutz Schüler on 11th June 2019, which follows hot on the heels of Lutz’s own appointment (here) to become the provider’s new CEO.

A growing number of Virgin Media’s UK cable broadband ISP subscribers, primarily those on their 350Mbps tier, are today reporting that their upload speeds have been given a boost to 35Mbps (Max Traffic Rate of 38.5Mbps). This is the same upstream rate as we’re expecting their imminent 500Mbps plan to launch alongside.

Budget broadband ISP TalkTalk has today followed Virgin Media by announcing that Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service will also be coming to their YouView (IPTV) powered Pay TV platform. The Prime Video app is being rolled out on set-top-boxes over the course of this month.
