Wireless infrastructure provider Freshwave has today announced that they’ve delivered an enhanced all-operator indoor 4G mobile broadband connectivity networ,k via their Omni Network, to Leeds Bradford Airport’s refurbished terminal and newly opened extension (available to EE, O2 and Vodafone / Three UK).

Broadband and mobile operator Vodafone has joined with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to successfully complete a set of trials using the NPLTime® service, which is a new terrestrial, fibre optic-based alternative to satellite-based GPS timing signals to help keep the UK’s critical digital and 5G / 6G mobile network infrastructure resilient and secure.

Digital infrastructure firm Boldyn Networks has, perhaps unsurprisingly, today been selected to deliver 4G mobile network (mobile broadband) infrastructure to enable the Emergency Services Network (ESN) across the London Underground. The deal reflects a collaboration with EE (BT), Transport for London (TfL) and the UK’s Home Office.

Mobile operator EE (BT) has today announced a series of upgrades to boost the mobile broadband capacity of their 4G and 5G network (e.g. re-farming 2.1GHz spectrum) ahead of the summer. Since the start of 2026, the provider has also extended their 5G Standalone (5G+) network to cover more than 50 million people across more than 610 towns and cities.

Network analyst firm Streetwave has today shared the results from a recent study they conducted, which tested the mobile broadband coverage and speed of 4G and 5G networks (EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2) in the Central London district of Southwark. The results found performance drops significantly at high footfall locations during peak times.

Mobile network operators, such as EE, O2, Vodafone and Three UK (VodafoneThree), have reportedly warned the government that, in a worst-case scenario, the current energy crisis and rising costs may force some of them to ration access to their network or slow mobile broadband (4G, 5G) speeds in order to reduce energy usage.

Wireless infrastructure provider Freshwave has today announced that they’ve worked with UK mobile operators EE, O2 and VodafoneThree (Vodafone and Three UK) to start rolling out the next “evolution” of their indoor focused small cell Omni Network, which could initially only harness 4G but has now been upgraded to handle 5G (mobile broadband).

A new report has claimed that telecoms infrastructure providers in the UK’s mobile network sector are using “new tactics” to secure more favourable lease renewals on mast sites. The tactic is said to be enticing landowners to negotiate without professional representation (i.e. risking agreements that reduce rents or overlook key protections).

The joint plan by Vodafone and AST SpaceMobile (aka – Satellite Connect Europe) to launch a space-based 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) service – that will connect with regular Smartphones – has suffered a setback, which occurred after Sunday’s orbital launch of a BlueBird 7 spacecraft on the New Glenn rocket ended up placing the satellite into the wrong orbit.

Customers of mobile network operator Three UK (VodafoneThree) were given quite the surprise yesterday afternoon after the provider suddenly notified them, without any prior warning, that they would be introducing mobile broadband (4G, 5G) speed caps of between 25Mbps and 100Mbps (Megabits per second) across various plans from the same date.

Consumer magazine Which? has published the results from their latest UK mobile network satisfaction survey, which questioned 5,137 adult customers in January 2026 about their chosen UK mobile phone operator (mix of Which? Connect panel and members of the public). Overall, Talkmobile topped the table with a customer satisfaction score of 83%, while Three UK placed last on just 65%.

At the start of January 2026 a mobile phone mast in the Pembrokeshire (Wales) seaside town of Tenby suddenly disappeared, leaving locals to suffer extremely poor service quality no matter what network they used (some areas even have no signal at all). At the same time some mobile operators continued to deny there was even a problem, until very recently.

Mobile and broadband operator Vodafone Business (VodafoneThree) has today launched the “UK’s first commercial 5G network slicing” service (5G+ Local Slicing), which aims to offer guaranteed mobile network performance across a defined site or local area up to 5km2 – from stadiums and logistics hubs to university campuses and construction sites etc.

The telecoms regulator Ofcom has today approved a second licence variation to enable mobile operator VodafoneThree (Vodafone and Three UK) to provide Direct-to-Device (D2D) services using its licensed spectrum in the 900MHz band (i.e. using satellites to connect with regular 4G and 5G Smartphones – bringing mobile broadband, calls and text connectivity to the remotest areas).

Network analyst firm Streetwave has published the results from a recent survey they conducted into mobile network coverage and mobile broadband (4G, 5G) speed across Caerphilly in Wales, which involved two surveys over an 18-month period and revealed a strong post-merger boost for Vodafone and Three UK (VodafoneThree). On the flip side, O2 actually suffered a decline.

The UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has this morning launched an additional technical consultation to support their recent decision to allow low power indoor WiFi signals and outdoor mobile broadband (4G, 5G etc.) networks to “share” access to the Upper 6GHz radio spectrum band (6425 to 7125MHz). The key focus this time is on how they’ll define “high density areas” for mobile licences.
