Some customers of mobile network operator Three UK (VodafoneThree), specifically those who took the new 5G Outdoor Hub (Green Packet Y5-210MU) option for their Three Home Broadband service, are finding that the router has recently developed an annoying habit of rebooting itself – often once every hour (variable and intermittent).

Mobile benchmarking firm RootMetrics (Ookla) has today published their H1 2025 study of UK mobile networks (calls, texts etc.) and 4G/5G mobile broadband speeds. The results once again name EE as the best mobile provider after they scooped up the highest scores and fastest data speeds across most categories.

Wavemobile Struggles to Get Big UK Mobile Operators to Fix WiFi Calling

The Technical Director for rural connectivity provider Wavemobile, Anthony Timson, has complained that the “biggest issue” they face today is the interaction devices roamed onto their network face with respect to the popular WiFi Calling service. Users who roam on to Wave’s network find that the big mobile operators (EE, O2, Vodafone and Three UK) seem to block it.

Giffgaff UK Discounts 5G Unlimited Mobile Data Plan to £15 a Month

A new survey of 500 national landowners, which was conducted by telecoms investor AP Wireless UK – a company with a strong vested interest in this area, has claimed that 35% of respondents are considering terminating their mobile mast agreements, citing concerns over rent cuts, legal pressure and loss of trust in mobile network operators.

SMARTY UK Mobile Launches Double and Triple Data Boosted Plans

SMARTY, which is a virtual mobile operator (MVNO) on Three UK’s (VodafoneThree) network, has moved to celebrate the summer holidays by significantly boosting the data (mobile broadband) allowances on some of their Pay Monthly SIM Only plans. For example, one of the cheapest £7 plans now comes with 24GB of data (up from 8GB) at no extra cost.

North Yorkshire UK Looks to Wind Up NYNet 100 Broadband Company

Virgin Media O2 Expand UK 3G Mobile Switch Off to Watford

Virgin Media O2 Grow UK FTTP Premises by 114k in Q2 as Broadband Users Fall

The latest Q2 2025 results from Virgin Media and O2 today have revealed that their gigabit broadband network increased by 114,900 premises in the quarter to cover 18.53 million UK homes. But related customers suffered another fall to total 5,643,500 (down by -51.4k in Q2 vs -44k in Q1) and O2’s mobile base also suffered a fall (albeit with positive results in wholesale).

O2 UK Boost 4G and 5G Mobile at 700 Postcodes in Dundee, Scotland

Mobile network operator O2 (Virgin Media) has today announced that they’ve completed a project to upgrade the network capacity and coverage of their 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) services around a total of 700 postcodes across the coastal Scottish city of Dundee on the Firth of Tay estuary.

The Telecoms Minister, Sir Chris Bryant, recently issued an important update on their efforts to boost growth by removing barriers to digital infrastructure deployment. The statement covered progress with flexi-permits and softening the rules for new mobile masts, but it also touched on how they intend to help get gigabit broadband into large residential buildings (blocks of flats / apartments).
