Broadband and telecoms operators Zen Internet, Giffgaff and Three UK have all recently picked up several gold (winner) and silver (runner-up) gongs at the annual UK Customer Experience Awards 2015 event.

A new survey has examined the real-world performance of FREE public wireless Internet (WiFi) hotspots at five of the busiest airports around the Greater London area and found that most struggle to deliver more than a handful of Megabits (Mbps).

The telecoms regulator has published its latest quarterly report into the volume of complaints experienced by all of the United Kingdom’s largest broadband, phone, mobile and TV providers. As usual the news is good for some providers (e.g. Sky Broadband, Virgin Media) and bad for others (e.g. EE).

A new Which? survey of the United Kingdom’s 100 biggest brands, which focused on customer service quality, has revealed that energy and telecoms firms dominate the bottom of the table where BT, TalkTalk and Vodafone were all also singled out for criticism.

Comparison site Simplifydigital.co.uk has today unveiled the winners of their 2015 Customer Choice Awards, which saw most of the big broadband ISPs (except BT and EE) pickup wins across several broadband, phone and TV categories based on their levels of satisfaction. But sadly you won’t find any smaller ISPs listed.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has officially announced the winners of their 17th annual 2015 Internet Industry Awards, which saw Hyperoptic pick-up the prize for “Best Superfast Broadband” provider (third time in a row) and they also secured the gong for “Best Consumer Fixed Broadband“. But there were many more categories and winners.

The communications regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 consumer complaints report, which saw overall complaint volumes continue to fall across most of the major UK mobile, pay tv, fixed line phone and broadband sectors. But the news isn’t so good for EE, which has seen gripes surge.

The second quarter has seen the average Internet download speed for the largest seven national home broadband ISPs increase from 24.72Mbps in Q1 to 25.47Mbps now, while the average for the primary Mobile Broadband operators reached 15.99Mbps (up from 14.42Mbps in Q1). Virgin Media remains the fastest fixed line provider and EE dominates mobile.

Broadband and phone providers PlusNet, Virgin Media and the Post Office have come top of a new survey of customer service quality, which questioned some 14,000 respondents about their experiences. Sadly TalkTalk / AOL and EE could all be found at the lowest rated end of the scale.

The Comms Business magazine has once again announced the winners of their annual 2015 Comms Business Awards event, which took place last Tuesday in London. In the end Virtual1 picked up the gong for ‘Best Internet Service Provider’, but there were plenty of other awards too.

Consumer magazine Which? has published a new report that attacks some of the biggest broadband ISPs, particularly BT, TalkTalk and PlusNet, for allegedly continuing to promote Internet download speeds that the majority of their customers will never be able to achieve. But are tougher advertising rules the best fix?

A new study has phoned some of the United Kingdom’s biggest and smallest broadband ISPs in order to work out how quick their call answer times were. The results reveal that the big boys (e.g. PlusNet and KC [Hull only] etc.) are among the slowest, while smaller providers tend to be the fastest (e.g. Exa Networks and B4RN etc.).

Consumer magazine Which? has surveyed 7,057 of its readers to learn which companies offered the country’s best and worst customer call centres. Unfortunately it’s bad news for BT and TalkTalk, which both ranked the lowest with just a single star out of five for satisfaction. Meanwhile Zen Internet did well to come top with five starts.

Statistical experts RootMetrics have today published a report into the mobile network performance of EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2 across 16 of the United Kingdom’s largest cities, which reveals that EE delivers the overall best performance thanks to their stronger 4G network. But the others are catching.

We’re looking at you EE (fixed broadband and phone), Vodafone (mobile) and BT (Pay TV).

Netflix, the popular Internet movie and TV streaming provider, has just published their latest April 2015 ISP Speed Index update for the United Kingdom and revealed that Virgin Media is still holding the top spot with a score of 3.74Mbps (Megabits per second). But take with the usual pinch of salt.
