The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has today announced the official shortlist of finalists for their forthcoming 17th annual 2015 Internet industry awards, which sees Exa Networks, Hyperoptic and Keycom leading the way with 5 or more nominations each across various different categories.

The results from the annual Broadband Genie 2015 survey have been announced, which saw PlusNet come top in four of the five survey categories (overall satisfaction score of 76%) to secure the Best Broadband Provider award. But Virgin Media (75%) and Sky Broadband (73%) weren’t far behind.

Satmetrix has today published their latest Net Promoter Scores (NPS) for the United Kingdom’s largest broadband and mobile operators, which saw PlusNet, Virgin Media and Sky Broadband top the table ahead of their rivals.

Ofcom has released its second study into the national performance of Mobile Broadband services. The results show that the average mobile Internet download speed had shrunk slightly since last year’s study, with 4G networks delivering 14.7Mbps (down from 15.1Mbps) and 3G doing 5.9Mbps (down from 6.1Mbps).

The first quarter of 2015 has seen the average Internet download speed for the largest seven national home broadband ISPs in the United Kingdom crawl up from 24Mbps at the end of 2014 to 24.72Mbps now, while the average for the country’s primary Mobile Broadband operators reached 14.42Mbps (up from 11.71Mbps in Q4 2014).

The Internet Telephony Services Providers Association (ITSPA), a trade body for the United Kingdom’s Voice-over-IP (VoIP) industry, has today announced the winners of their 7th annual 2015 ITSPA Awards. This year saw Orbtalk collect the gong for Best Consumer Provider, even though their website appears more business focused.

Consumer magazine Which? has today published the results of their latest Q1 2015 reader survey of broadband ISP satisfaction, which found that customers of John Lewis’s broadband division and Zen Internet were the most satisfied with their service. Meanwhile all of the biggest ISPs could be found languishing at the bottom.

A new study from uSwitch.com, which is based on data gathered via 1,030,865 consumer Internet speedtests conducted between August 2014 to February 2015, claims to have revealed that the slowest street in the United Kingdom for average broadband download speed is Williamson Road (Kent) at 0.53Mbps, while the fastest was Sandy Lane in Staffordshire on 72.86Mbps.

The telecoms regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 report into the real-world performance of the largest fixed line broadband ISPs and their customers across the United Kingdom, which found that the average download speed has increased by 21.93% over the past six months to top 22.8Mbps (NOTE: Most of this boost came from urban areas, with rural and suburban being fairly flat).

RootMetrics has today published their report into mobile operator performance across the United Kingdom for the second half of 2014, which sees O2, EE, Three UK and Vodafone battle it out over areas including service reliability, call / text performance and Mobile Broadband speeds.

Measurements of mobile Internet speed taken during the course of last year by UK and EU users of the free Netradar.org app have shown that the United Kingdom scored an average download rate of 5Mbps (Megabits per second), which places us below France (8.4Mbps), Germany (6.1Mbps), Italy (5.4Mbps) and many others. In addition, Three UK delivered the fastest speeds for Britain.

MoneySuperMarket.com has today announced the winners of their Broadband Supers 2015 Awards, which much like last week’s uSwitch event saw almost all of the big broadband ISPs walk away with at least one award from a selection of several categories. Generally PlusNet appeared to do the best after it picked up three awards for Best Value Broadband, Best for Quality and Reliability and Best for Customer Service.

The annual uSwitch.com Broadband Awards 2015, which took place last night at The Gherkin in London, have unveiled a variety of winners across multiple categories for broadband, TV, phone and mobile services. Top among the winners was Virgin Media, which took three awards for Best Customer Rated Broadband, Fastest Broadband and Best Broadband Provider.

ISPreview.co.uk takes a look back at how the top fastest and largest national Mobile Broadband (3G/4G) and Home Broadband providers have performed over the last quarter. Overall Virgin Media still tops the fixed line table with an average Internet download speed of 53.20Mbps (unchanged from Q3 2014), while Vodafone delivered the best mobile performance at 13.78Mbps.

RootMetrics has released its latest study of Mobile Broadband (3G and 4G) performance across the city of London (England) for the 2nd half of 2014, which found that EE remains the faster mobile network operator with median download speeds of 23.15Mbps (up from 17.8Mbps in H1 2014 and 13.6Mbps in 2013). Meanwhile Three UK is the slowest.
