Fibre optic network builder CityFibre, which is currently deploying a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover around 8 million UK premises by the end of 2025 (here), has signed a new £100m agreement to extend their existing supply deal for passive fibre optic solutions with Hexatronic.

CityFibre has today confirmed that they’re investing £27m to deploy their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the West Yorkshire (England) city of Wakefield, which is a location that was quietly removed from their rollout plan back in 2020.

The Sunderland City Council (SCC) and BAI Communications have today chosen CityFibre’s new “full fibre” broadband and Ethernet network in the city to provide data capacity for a new 5G small cell mobile network, which aims to provide a platform for local business growth and innovation.

CityFibre’s has today moved to boost their £4bn rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network by implementing Deepomatic’s Visual Automation Technology throughout its end-to-end network operations. Cost savings and faster installations for homes and businesses are expected.

But it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of where they’re actively building, as well as where you can order a live service from an ISP. Hopefully this list will help.

UK ISP and mobile operator Vodafone has today published their latest results (financial Q3 FY22), which reveals that their fixed broadband base added another +29k customers (vs +22k in the previous quarter) to make for a total base of 991,000, which should see them pass the magic million mark before their next update.

CityFibre has today issued a progress update on their £65 million investment to deploy a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network for homes and businesses in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch (Dorset), which has just gone live in a number of new areas, or so they say.

Mobile operator and fixed line ISP Vodafone UK has today further reduced the already discounted prices of their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) powered home broadband packages for new customers, which are available on both Openreach and CityFibre’s respective national full fibre networks. The slower FTTC plans have also been cut.

A recent report from banking giant Credit Suisse has estimated that Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband networks will cover 90% of the UK by 2025. The country was also found to be the “most attractive market” for incremental investment in such networks, thanks to “strong build momentum and interest” in faster broadband.

After a long wait, CityFibre has announced that their £31m project to deploy a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the city of Gloucester (Gloucestershire, England) has finally started to go live and connect the first local homes and businesses.

CityFibre has today announced that they’ve appointed civil engineering contractor GCU UK Ltd to lead the £42m rollout of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the large North East England town of Gateshead (Tyne and Wear) and South Tyneside, which sits just over the River Tyne from Newcastle.

CityFibre has today announced that they intend to commit a further £19 million in order to extend their existing £40m rollout of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the city of Aberdeen (Scotland), which was one of their very first gigabit city builds.

CityFibre’s existing £40m project to deploy a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across the Wiltshire town of Swindon, which began in late 2020 (here), has been boosted by a new deal with the Swindon Borough Council (SBC). As a result, the network will be expanded to include 10,000 council managed homes.

CityFibre UK has today confirmed that their £32m rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the South Yorkshire town of Barnsley, which was disrupted after the collapse of their previous contractor NMCN (here), will now be conducted by Svella Connect.
