Vodafone UK Launch Broadband ISP Switching Campaign with £100 for Early Exits

Telecoms provider Vodafone UK will today launch “The Great British Telecoms Switch” campaign, which encourages those on Openreach’s wider fixed broadband and phone network – with different ISPs – to save money by switching to their service. New customers who take their top 900Mbps FTTP plan will also get up to £100 to cover any early exit fees.

Internet provider Cuckoo, which plans to become the UK retail outlet for Fern Trading‘s (Octopus Investments) consolidated full fibre networks (Jurassic Fibre, Swish Fibre, Giganet and AllPoints Fibre), has refreshed their FTTP broadband plans. But at present they’re only available via CityFibre, while Openreach seems to have been dropped.

CityFibre has announced that their £69m state aid supported Project Gigabit broadband rollout contract for Cambridgeshire and adjacent areas (Lot 5), which was awarded in March 2023 (here), has finally entered the build phase. A total of “around” 45,000 hard-to-reach homes and businesses in the county are expected to benefit.

CityFibre has announced that they’ve completed the “primary build” of their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in the East Midlands (England) town of Northampton. The network is now Ready for Service at over 87,700 premises – reflecting c.82% of local homes and businesses.

Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has just released their Q3 FY24 financial results, which saw their fixed line broadband base grow to total 1.331 million customers (up by 39k in Q3 vs 27k in the Q2), while their mobile customers grew to 18.572 million (up by 330k in Q3 vs 218k in Q2).

Mobile network operator and ISP Vodafone UK has now, after previously announcing that they were retiring both their old c.35-38Mbps Fibre 1 (FTTC / VDSL2) and related Full Fibre 1 (FTTP) home broadband packages for new customers (not existing subscribers), said this was done in error. But the related Social Tariff is still missing.
