Some 18,000 tenants and customers of Citizen, a social housing provider in the West Midlands (England) city of Coventry, look set to gain access to a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network as part of a new agreement with CityFibre.

A new report from WIK-Consult, which was commissioned by CityFibre, has claimed that the introduction of a new UK labelling system, with better information on broadband services, could increase consumer take-up of gigabit Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) ISP products by 40% (i.e. an extra 1.6 million homes by 2025).

CityFibre’s £25m project to deploy a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across the South Yorkshire town of Doncaster, which began in April 2020 (here), has started to bear fruit after two of their UK ISP partners – Quickline (Quickfire) and Pure Broadband – began connecting their first customers.

CityFibre UK has reached a new partnership with landlord and housing developer Thirteen Group, which thanks to a blanket wayleave agreement will ensure that 12,500 of their customers in Middlesbrough (North Yorkshire, England) can gain access to a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network.

CityFibre UK has today announced that they’re investing £30m to support the rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the Dorset towns of Poole and Christchurch, which will complement their existing deployment in the neighbouring city of Bournemouth.

CityFibre has today confirmed some details of their £20 million rollout plan for a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the large West Midlands (England) town of Solihull, which is home to 123,000 people. The first construction work is due to begin in April 2021.

Budget conscious broadband ISP TalkTalk has announced that their CityFibre based Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) packages have just been made available to homes in the Adur and Worthing area (West Sussex), which follows a similar announcement from rival Zen Internet in January 2021.

Alternative network builder CityFibre has today confirmed the full list of 285 UK cities, towns and villages where they plan to deploy their new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTHP) broadband platform, which will work alongside ISPs like Vodafone and TalkTalk to cover 8 million homes and businesses. Rural areas will also benefit.

CityFibre, which is currently working to deploy their 1Gbps FTTP broadband ISP network to cover 8 million UK premises over the next five years (here and here), has reportedly hired bankers at UBS and Rothschild to help it sell a significant minority stake (worth many hundreds of millions) to a third potential backer.

CityFibre UK has today confirmed that they will soon start work on their £34 million project to deploy a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Berkshire (England) towns of Bracknell (£20m) and Maidenhead (£14m), with both being expected to reach completion during 2024.
