Customers of troubled broadband ISP ZYBRE (Air Broadband), specifically those served by CityFibre’s UK full fibre (FTTP) network, have this week been informed that the provider has reached an agreement with rival internet provider Octaplus Networks to “support migrating of our existing broadband subscribers“.

Gigabit broadband ISP YouFibre, which sells plans via Netomnia and Cityfibre’s respective Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks across different parts of the United Kingdom, has today reported that they now have a total customer base of 30,000 (up from 22,000 at the start of 2023).

The seventh contract awarded under the UK’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout scheme – worth “nearly” £14 million – has today been awarded to ISP Wessex Internet, which will upgrade connectivity for “around” 10,500 hard-to-reach homes and businesses across rural parts of the New Forest in Hampshire (England).

Network operator CityFibre has finished their £2m deployment of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 3,600 homes in the village of Yaxley in Cambridgeshire (England), which is an extension of their existing network in nearby Peterborough that covers over 68,000 premises.

The campaign is designed to encourage consumers to upgrade.

Network operator CityFibre has completed their deployment of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 1,018 homes in the suburban village of Binley Woods (Warwickshire), which only started in August 2022 and is an extension of their existing network in nearby Coventry.

CityFibre has today announced the completion of their £25m “primary build” in the West Midlands (England) town of Solihull, which has expanded their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 44,000 premises (around 85% of residential properties), including most businesses.

A major newspaper has reported that a parent of broadband ISP and mobile giant VMO2 (Virgin Media and O2) has held “initial talks” over the possibility of mounting a £3bn takeover bid for the UK’s third-largest alternative full fibre network (AltNet), CityFibre. But such a deal could face regulatory and competition concerns.
