CityFibre’s ongoing £195m investment in the rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across East and West Sussex (England) has just added the seaside town of Bognor Regis to their active build phase, which will also include all the villages between Pagham and Elmer.

Network builder CityFibre, which is currently deploying a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the UK, has won a ‘Gold Health and Safety Award‘ from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for ensuring its staff and build partners “operate in a safe environment.”

CityFibre has today completed their £43m rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the Buckinghamshire (England) town of Milton Keynes, which has reached 90,000 homes (c.90% of the addressable residential properties, as well as most businesses and key public sector sites).

Last year we reported that UK ISP Zen Internet was preparing to make their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband packages on CityFibre’s new network available nationwide (here). A new deal has now been signed that sees Zen making an exclusive long-term volume commitment across CF’s entire network plan.

Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has today announced that they’ve extended the availability of their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband packages – via both Openreach and CityFibre’s national network platforms – to include small business (small office / home office) customers.

Alternative network provider CityFibre has made a second big announcement, which reveals that their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network has seen its coverage reach 1.5 million premises passed (up from 1 million in November 2021) across 60 of their initial UK cities and towns.

CityFibre has announced another big £300m investment boost to help support the expansion of their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network. The new funding has come from the Abu Dhabi government’s Mubadala investment fund, which has already put £500m into the operator.

Openreach’s (BT) Director of Corporate Affairs, Catherine Colloms, has told a UK committee for the new Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill (PSTI) that the proposed law doesn’t do enough to help them bring gigabit broadband ISP network upgrades to large residential buildings (MDUs) and telegraph poles.

CityFibre’s £40m investment to deploy a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Wiltshire town of Swindon, which began in late 2020 (here), has in recent weeks generated a few complaints after contractors blocked some residents inside their homes – often without prior notice.

The Highlands and Islands Enterprise in Scotland has announced the completion of a joint £7.7m state aid funded project to build a new gigabit-capable “full fibre” broadband and Ethernet network to connect 154 public sector sites (schools, NHS, council etc.) across Inverness, Fort William, Thurso and Wick. But it’s also fostering FTTP.

Network builder CityFibre has today announced the deployment of their 100th Fibre Exchange (FEX), which in theory should enable enough capacity to serve the first 4.8 million premises under their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband rollout across the UK (so far they’ve completed the build to 1 million premises).

Hull-based UK ISP Pure Broadband, which serves consumers covered by new full fibre networks from KCOM, CityFibre and OFNL, has announced that they’ve just become the first internet provider to make services available via CityFibre’s new network in the South Yorkshire (England) city of Sheffield.
