CityFibre’s £115m rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the South Yorkshire UK city of Sheffield, which started earlier this year, has been given another boost via a deal with the Sheffield City Council. The network will now also be extended to cover 20,000 council homes.

UK ISP Yayzi Broadband, which has already launched a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service in Blackpool (Lancashire) by harnessing ITS Technology‘s network, has now joined CityFibre’s rival full fibre build in order to expand their local coverage, as well as being able to launch in the nearby town of Preston.

CityFibre UK has today started the rollout of their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the South East England based cathedral city of Chichester. At the same time, Kent-based ISP Vfast (Orbital Net) has announced that they will also be providing services via CF’s network in Medway.

Vodafone UK has this week introduced some new discounts on the monthly cost of their various “Superfast” (FTTC/P) and “Gigafast” (FTTP via Openreach or Cityfibre) home broadband packages for consumers. Prices now start at just £19.50 per month for their entry-level 35Mbps tier.

CityFibre UK has today officially started the construction phase for their £62 million rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the coastal city of Sunderland (Tyne and Wear), which is being supported by civil engineering contractors from MAP Group.

Alternative UK network providers have heavily criticised Ofcom’s provisional decision not to oppose Openreach’s (BT) proposal for a “major” price cut to their wholesale Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband products, which they warn could impact competition by discouraging ISPs from adopting rival networks.

The decision by fixed wireless network builder IX Wireless (UK ISP 6G Internet) to deploy a new 15-metre high broadband mast in the Lancashire town of Blackpool has attracted an angry response from local residents. Many of which live in bungalows and fear the new infrastructure will be ugly, dominant and may devalue their homes.

UK ISP TalkTalk has announced that their new CityFibre and Openreach based Future Fibre packages, which offer broadband speeds of up to 500Mbps via Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology, have been extended to homes in Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh.

CityFibre’s ongoing rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in Glasgow (Scotland) has now moved into the North West side of the city, which is being supported by new contractor Glenevin (previously they only seemed to be working with PMK).

CityFibre has today announced that they’ll begin the £23m rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the large West Yorkshire (England) town of Halifax during January 2022, which will be supported by civil engineering firm Nmcn (they’re also working with them in Barnsley).

CityFibre’s UK rollout of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire) and the coastal East Sussex town of Eastbourne appear to both be suffering from a few separate problems with contractors, with some sub-contractors allegedly threatening to “rip-up tarmac” that has been laid.

The first customers have now started to connect to CityFibre’s new £75 million Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in the Bowling and Tyersal areas of the West Yorkshire UK city of Bradford, which is being built with support from civil engineering firm Network Plus.

CityFibre has today confirmed that they’ll begin the £50m rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the Norfolk city of Norwich during “early” September 2021, which follows the appointment of Telec Networks to conduct the civil engineering work.

More than a year has passed since CityFibre, supported by civil engineering firm J. McCann & Co Ltd, began the £45m rollout (here) of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire, England). The good news is that the first customers are finally going live.

UK ISP Giganet (M12 Solutions) has today announced that they’re moving to adopt short 30-day contract terms on their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband services, although this only applies to those they either build themselves or sell via CityFibre’s national UK network (i.e. Openreach based products aren’t covered).
