New UK Virtual 5G eSIM Mobile Provider Launches Called Simp Mobile
Another day, another launch of a new eSIM focused virtual mobile provider. The latest to join the rapidly growing club is called Simp Mobile, which has spent the last few months in testing with a limited base of users and is now launching publicly. The operator proclaims itself as being “aimed squarely at a younger audience“.
“Going eSIM-only lets us run a fully digital, app-first operation – no physical SIM logistics, no retail, no call centres. Everything (activation, number port, roaming, rewards) happens in the app, and because we’re software-led we ship updates and new features regularly, with a lot more in the pipeline,” said a spokesperson for the operator to ISPreview. But we’re not sure how much of a positive selling point being app-based and having “no call centres” is going to be for potential customers.
Otherwise, the operator features just two primary mobile plans, both of which include “unlimited” data (mobile broadband), calls, texts (fair usage policy of 750GB applies to UK data) and apply a regular monthly rolling contract. Customers can also save money by paying their subscription three months in advance and the service uses the VodafoneThree (Vodafone and Three UK) network.

The service also supports mobile roaming across 130+ countries worldwide. Outside of Europe you get a 5G data allowance [3GB Standard / 5GB Premium], which then claims to offer “unlimited data” at 4G, although the small print seems to interpret “unlimited” data on roaming in an.. unusual way: “Global roaming runs at 5G speed up to your plan’s allowance, then continues unlimited at 4G speeds in the supported countries listed in our terms (up to 10GB of usage).”

Looks like a proper alternative for Spusu, but in my place both Vodafone and Three are poor.
Same here. I really wanted to give Ollio mobile a go – but like anyone else who uses Voda/Three O binned them off.
So when you use up your initial roaming allowance you get downgraded to 2mb connection. Also you have to download a separate esim to use global roaming beyond EU.
A different way of doing things but I think it could have potential due to low price and the reality that a lot of people just want a simple connection abroad and aren’t bothered by high speeds if on holiday.
Also uses a decent UK network as well. Could be onto a winner although it’s quite funny that they go on about being new and only using esim when their logo is a physical sim.
Mozillion do the same – they havea. travel sim and a UK sim – you can download the travel sim when you need it.
Mozillion’s travel sim is an extra cost though, isn’t it? Simp seems to include it in their base packages.
What’s with the gamification of a mobile contract? Daily reward “Spins” and “coins”… No mention on their barebones website of what these are. I’m guessing the “prizes” will be suitably Youth-oriented marketing offers, McDonalds vouchers and the like?
It’s all in the app – you can use the points to buy things like additional roaming data and money off your monthly bill.
Didnt know what the name meant until the comments. Putting that aside it is great value, especially if you add the roaming which I am sure is not actually properly unlimited but getting a travel esim separately would be a lot more expensive.
Kudos to them, seems like a genuinely interesting and very strong proposition.
The app seems pretty nice actually, it was easy enough to install the eSIM for UK and travel. I signed up to the 3 month deal to test whilst I am travelling this Summer. The Spins is a nice feature, I also won a fiver off my next bill – which I guess won’t be for 3 months now, so I hope it doesn’t expire and let’s see if I actually get the discount. First impressions of “Simp Mobile” are good.
Been digging around this morning and signed up. Very good and smooth experience. The global roaming I think is the best differentiator – you can buy extra 5G top-ups if you run out of the default one and the prices are much better than all the other travel esim providers. Ie £10 for 10GB in even the most obscure countries. I think it makes sense to provide both UK and travel eSIM in one package like this.

Lets see how they get on and if I make the switch, need to check how good Voda3 is in my area.
