Management consultancy giant Arthur D. Little has published a new paper that examines the importance of investing in better telecoms infrastructure. It also predicts that the UK might need to adopt ultrafast (100Mbps+) fibre optic FTTH broadband “over the next five years“, unless G.Fast is realised to expand the life of FTTC.

Telecoms giant BT has today posted their latest financial results to 31st March 2013 (Q1-2013), which revealed that the operators retail ISP division had increased its fixed line broadband subscribers by +136,000 in the quarter to total 6,704,000 (up from the +122k added in Q4-2012 and +88k in Q3-2012).

BTOpenreach has this week dispatched one of its survey teams to begin preliminary work on their previously announced £3.7m project to divert two unused submarine fibre optic cables to the Isles of Scilly (here), which will support the rollout of superfast broadband (FTTC and FTTP) ISP products on the islands.
