Netflix UK, the broadband-based unlimited movie and TV video streaming service, has increased the price of their HD quality Standard Plan for new customers by an inflation busting 7.15% from £6.99 to £7.49 per month. But existing customers are safe.. at least for now.

All new customers who take Fuel Broadband’s 6 months FREE unlimited broadband offer (£5 per month thereafter), which among other things comes with free UK evening and weekend calls, will now also receive a FREE Amazon Fire TV Stick (normally retails for £35) for WiFi video streaming to your televisions HDMI port.

UK ISP BT has today confirmed that customers of their broadband service, which currently benefit from receiving BTSport TV content for free, will in the future have to pay an extra £5 if they also want to watch European football (Champions League etc.). But it will still be free for BT TV subscribers and there’s a 4K TV channel coming too.

Customers of BT’s broadband bundles, most of which have for the past two years been able to benefit from free BTSport TV content, may be displeased to learn that the free ride could soon be coming to an end and some related content will instead cost an additional fee of £5 (still a lot less than non-BT customers pay).

Netflix, the popular Internet movie and TV streaming provider, has just published their latest April 2015 ISP Speed Index update for the United Kingdom and revealed that Virgin Media is still holding the top spot with a score of 3.74Mbps (Megabits per second). But take with the usual pinch of salt.

Sheffield-based Internet provider PlusNet has quietly updated their website to reveal the official launch details for their long awaited YouView (IPTV) based TV service, which is designed to be taken as part of a bundle alongside the ISP’s residential Unlimited Fibre Broadband (FTTC) and phone product. Here’s what you get..

Some of BT’s consumer TV customers have written in to report that the ISP appears to have added five new premium channels to their service (418 Comedy Central Extra, 431 MTV Music, 490 Lifetime, 491 H2 and 542 Movies 24) and this seems to compliment a wider package refresh. TalkTalk customers should also see the channels.

It’s been around two years since we first heard of PlusNet’s plan to launch a YouView (IPTV) based TV service for their broadband customers, yet the good news is that the official product “will be launching soon“. But it will only be available to their “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) subscribers.

At present you generally need a stable 25Mbps broadband connection to run a single 4K (Ultra HD 3840 x 2160 resolution) quality Internet video stream via Netflix (although the actual streams usually vary from 12-16Mbps) and some rival services, although the new V-Nova technology is promising to make three 4K streams fit down the same connection.

Customers of Sky Broadband with Sky TV, specifically those who enjoy accessing their TV content on an Android based mobile device via the Sky Go app, have criticised the operator for not updating their app to work properly with the latest Android 5.1 release. But it could be worse; they might be users of Virgin Media’s TV Anywhere service.
