Mobile operator O2 UK has been accused of unfair “sexism and political censorship” after its mobile broadband platform was found to still be blocking over 100 websites that promote equality for men and or which have dedicated themselves to helping male victims of domestic violence and rape.

A new study from RootMetrics has named EE as the fastest mobile broadband operator in Manchester (England) after it blitzed past rivals, including distant runner-up Three UK, to record an average download speed of 15.2Mbps (Megabits per second) and uploads of 9.4Mbps.

The communications regulator has today published a new report that outlines the availability of different communications services across the United Kingdom. In particular it finds that “standard broadband” services (i.e. HEADLINE speeds of at least 2Mbps) are now available to 95.3% of households and superfast (30Mbps+) to 67.9% .

A new RootMetrics study of Mobile Broadband performance in Hull (East Yorkshire, England) has revealed that EE was the fastest mobile operator with an average download speed of 9.6Mbps and an upload of 5.5Mbps (Megabits per second). Three UK became the distant runner-up with O2 and Vodafone delivering the slowest performance.

The communications regulator, Ofcom, has today published its latest Telecoms Market Data Tables Q4 2012 update and confirmed that the United Kingdom is now home to 22,174,000 21,680,000 fixed line broadband ISP connections (excluding corporate lines), which is up sharply by +659,000 +356,00 in the quarter.

The current generation of 4G (LTE) based superfast Mobile Broadband technology, which is presently being rolled out by operators in the United Kingdom, is technically still a 3G service because its internet speeds are too slow for it to be considered true 4G by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
