Vodafone has today reported their latest Q3 2015 results (calendar), which reveals that the new fixed broadband service has grown ever so slightly to reach 75,000 customers (up by +5K net adds vs +4K in Q2). Meanwhile their 4G UK population coverage has reached 75% (82% by Ofcom’s definition).

Cable Internet, phone and TV provider Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has published their results to the end of Q3 2015, which reveals that they added +55,500 (net) UK broadband customers in the quarter to make for a total of 4,625,800 (43% take their 100Mbps+ services).

BT has posted their latest Q3-2015 results (calendar), which reveals that their retail business now has a total of 7,879,000 broadband subscribers (up by +82K vs +83K in Q2) and 3,438,000 of those are taking their FTTC dominated BTInfinity “fibre broadband” (up by +212K in Q3 vs +217K in Q2).

A new study claims that broadband and home phone prices for “loyal customers” (i.e. those who prefer to stay with the same ISP rather than switch) have increased by an inflation-busting 40% since 2011 and are thus paying on average £8.59 a month (£103 a year) more now than they were four years ago.

Ombudsman Services, one of Ofcom’s two approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) consumer complaint handlers, reports that it has so far received a total of 15,542 complaints about UK phone, mobile and broadband providers in 2015 and Q3 complaints were up 35% from three years ago.

EE reported their latest Q3 2015 results today, which revealed that their fixed line home broadband subscribers increased by just +8,000 in the quarter to total 927,000 (down sharply from +35K in Q2 and +50K in Q1). But 4G mobile performance continued to be strong.

Sky has today published the company’s latest results for Q3 2015, which reveals that their Sky Broadband division in the UK and Ireland added another +133,000 Internet subscribers in the quarter to total more than 5.75 million (up from the +96,000 added during Q2).

Charity Go ON UK has produced a new heatmap of Digital Exclusion across the United Kingdom, which contrasts the availability of broadband and digital skills with Internet usage in order to identify which Local Authorities are falling short. Unsurprisingly urban areas tend to do well, but there are some interesting twists.

A new study by Return Path has decried the otherwise welcome fact that commercial marketers are finding it harder and harder to push their annoying emails into your inbox. For example, 82% of commercial emails reached their intended UK recipients this year, which is down from 87% in 2014.
