Sydney-based fabless semiconductor startup Morse Micro has successfully demonstrated how outdoor Wi-Fi signals, using their HaLow (802.11ah) chips, can be made to work at distances that are many times the reach of a conventional Wi-Fi technology. The trial saw them push a working wireless network up to 3km from its source.

The latest research from Point Topic has revealed that world fixed broadband lines grew by 1.6% (22.39 million) in Q3 2023 to total 1.42 billion connections, which compares with 1.87% (24.59m) in the same quarter last year. Wi-Fi Alliance Officially Certifies Kit for New Wi-Fi 7 Standard

The Wi-Fi Alliance has today official begun certification for the next generation of Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) capable wireless networking devices. The new Wi-Fi 7 standard is expected to “see rapid adoption“, with more than 233 million devices predicted to enter the market in 2024 alone. Just don’t expect to see those dizzy speed claims of 46Gbps in the real-world.
