The Post Office, which recently announced a £500m plan to swap from its old BT based broadband platform to a new TalkTalk and Fujitsu network (here), has begun offering 6 months free Anytime UK Calls with their home phone and broadband bundles.
The promotion means that customers could save £4.50 a month off the usual price for the Anytime calls service (i.e. for the first 6 months of service), which includes free 24/7 calls to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers. The Post Office’s normal broadband and phone bundles (below) typically include evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and inclusive weekend calls to UK mobiles as well as the 40 “top international destinations” as standard.

It’s worth pointing out that the Post Office’s top service speeds are currently quite limited by BT’s platform, although faster speeds of up to 20Mbps using at least ADSL2+ technology should be possible once customers have been migrated over to the new network. Sadly the details about this process remain somewhat vague.
