BT has announced that customers of their broadband TV (IPTV) platform, specifically those who make use of their Buy-to-Keep movies service, will now be able to access the content they purchase on more than the ISPs Set-Top-Box hardware. In addition, customers can now also watch their TV channels on multiple devices but you’ll need an ‘Extra Box’.
Apparently movies purchased via the BT TV YouView or Vision+ set-top-box (these tend to cost £3.99 for films in SD and £5.99 for HD) will now be automatically available for customers to watch on smartphones, tablets or PCs at no extra cost. Customers can access their films on up to four different Apple or Android devices or online and either watch instantly or download to watch later or on the move.
On top of that BT has launched TV Everywhere, which is included with BT TV’s Extra Box service (i.e. £5 a month with a 12 month minimum term, one off payment of £49 for YouView box or £65 for a YouView+ box) and again allows customers to watch a selection of their TV channels on multiple devices.
