From early next year Openreach (BT) will begin offering Saturday appointment slots for PCP Only (self-install) based Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) broadband provisions, which seems intended to help tackle occasions where the operator’s engineers are facing “significant demand“.
Normally related orders for an ‘up to’ 40-80Mbps capable FTTC / VDSL2 “fibre broadband” service, which doesn’t require an engineer to enter your home (PCP Only), would not be completed on a Saturday but that’s due to change from 7th January 2017.
The suggestion is that this will not happen as a matter of routine, but rather only when it’s absolutely necessary due to high demand. The move will probably assist Openreach in continuing to meet Ofcom’s ever increasing performance targets. See more here.
