Lyca Mobile UK Launch Fan Plans for West-Ham United Supporters
Mobile network operator Lyca Mobile, which is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that runs off EE’s (BT) national platform, has today launched a new range of mobile “Fan Plans” that are specially tailored toward supporters of West Ham United Football Club.
The West Ham United Fan Plan is the first bespoke commercial initiative launched by the two companies. There are three plans to choose from, starting from £7 for 20GB of data, then rising to £10 for 50GB and £25 for unlimited data. All of the 30-day plans also include unlimited minutes and texts, and have EU roaming included.
One awkward aspect is that the launch appears to clash with Lyca’s existing discounts for new customers, thus you can currently get their regular 20GB plan for just £5 (usually £10) and unlimited data is just £10 (usually £25), although admittedly 50GB is a bit more expensive at £15. But these prices only last for two “renewals“, while prices for the Fan Plans look to last for a full year.

But the Fan Plans will also go one further by entering customers into monthly prize draws for the chance to win match tickets, signed merchandise, and ‘meet the player’ experiences. Richard Schäfer, Lyca Group CEO, said: “We’re always looking for ways to bring our relationship with West Ham United to life, and it’s great to cement our renewed partnership by offering fans this exclusive new product. We know Hammers are some of the most loyal fans out there, and we’re keen to reward them.”
Hard luck if you support a different club, it seems.

When is WiFi calling to be available?
Hoping for an answer on that too. Unfortunately at home, I live in a bit of a dip and coverage is poor on all providers, so WiFi Calling would be great. Switched to Lyca a couple of days ago after I couldn’t even load a webpage or send a WhatsApp with Virgin/O2 when visiting Manchester (and most of the train journey).
Does Lyca have access to all EE’s frequencies? I was in East Wittering today and noticed I had 4 bars of 4G on my EE sim but only 3 bars of 2G with my Lyca sim, both esims on the same phone!
No B20, which might be a problem in rural areas or indoors.
Have a look at 1p Mobile as they seem to have access to all bands, plus VoLTE, WiFi calling, and 5G.
Does this mean mvno’s are not the same as the network they piggyback from?
How do you find out which frequencies they have access too?
Ignore what Lyca tells you in regards to what network you are on (2G, 3G etc) – I reached out to them after my phone refused to connect to 4G or 5G and would only ever use H (3G). Turns out certain parts of EE’s network aren’t reporting correctly. I’m getting 500Mb download and 50Mb upload whilst apparently being connected to HSDPA (which is obviously impossible!) Hoping they fix it soon as it’s very annoying to say the least as I never know what my signal really is!
I took a quick peek at their website but I wouldn’t touch them with a bargepole. Their language seems designed to obscure what they are selling; “1,000 calls and texts”, huh? What is an “offline customer”? Pass.
Offline customer means someone who signed up at a physical store or with a sim from a shop.
1000 minutes and test is quite clear. What’s uour confusion? If you buy the £1.99 bundle online which is discounted from £5, you will get 1000 calls and texts for no additional cost. Beyond that there is a per minute and per sms charge. This is typical for PAYG plans.
My confusion is how on earth am I supposed to know what an “offline customer” is? It isn’t explained anywhere, it’s their terminology and I’ve never seen it used anywhere else. The web site clearly says “1000 calls and texts” NOT “1000 minutes and texts” (how many texts would that be?) So I can make one call and yak away continuously for 30 days and I’ve still got 999 “calls and texts” left? Seems unlikely. They either need to rewrite their website in English or I suspect them of trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

Yes Lebara has full vodafone access, but new Sims are limited to 150Mbps in terms of speed.
Thanks Bubbles. Been with Lebara for a year or so now and very happy tbh. I just wandered if they had full access same as Vodafone direct as their sims are so much cheaper.
