Customers of mobile network operator Three UK, which is in the process of merging with Vodafone, have this week been notified about the provider’s release of a refreshed Three App for Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) devices that began to become available on Monday (28th April 2025).

According to a text message that was sent out by Three UK this week, the Three app “just got a glow-up. All-new design, improved navigation, and a ton of new features? You bet. It’s now even easier to manage your account – and if you’ve got more than one, you can link them all together too. While you’re there, why not check out the latest offers and perks?

Some of the changes appear to include a “reimagined” home screen with a timeline and easier access to add-ons, offers and more. Not to mention access to all of the usual account controls etc. Make of it what you will.

The app is woeful, it’s genuinely not fit for purpose. The old app was far better. The terminology of using the word expires in relation to customers usage is confusing. It makes customers think that their contract is up as opposed to that’s when the usage refreshes. The old app also used to give you a 3 month average on what your usage has been so you would know how much data you use. The new app does not have this feature at all

    Not good enough at all.

Not sure what features is needed and if you are on a pay monthly service, do you really need an app?

I am with smarty and yes there is a app, it tells me how much I have used and how long until my usage resets. i really must start using it more, reset tomorrow and I still have 3.8Gb of data left out of 4GB

There is a tab for addons and one for handsets if I want a new phone, not that they are new, they use a company called reboxed.

Anyway, apart from telling you what you have used, there is no really need for an app, there is an app for everything these days.

Since the relaunch of the app a few years ago it’s so much better. Things are clearer & the user interface is much nicer & it just works.
Though I do feel like they are using it to push more sales & encouraging people to add more devices!

I left 3 a few years back mostly because the app was web based and on my PAYG account (It might have changed since), it would ask me to login twice (due to the web redirect) and would constantly drop my connection if I was in the middle of nowhere and needed to top up.

The bizarre thing is, their SMARTY brand has a far superior and straight forward app (what I switched to a few years back, just because of the app experience), I have no idea why they did not migrate to use it? I can only assume it is due to legacy reasons and the cost to migrate/shift over to it on their main brand.

Also maintaining different app solutions across brands, is inefficient.

Agree with SMARTY having the better app.

In fact SMARTY’s whole billing system / control panel is excellent, you can tell they actually put a lot of thought into it when developing it.

There’s nothing sexier than the new Rita Ora splash page in the app.

It looks almost the same except they’ve introduced unnecessary background animations and somehow made scrolling feel laggy and non-native with the incorrect amount of inertia. Why do bad devs insist on overriding default system behaviour like scrolling? They never make it better.
