Broadband ISPs EE and BT Revamp UK Pay TV Packages and Pricing
Internet, mobile and phone providers BT and EE will today refresh their range of pay TV (IPTV) and broadband bundles, which will see various TV plans renamed and features changed. For example, the current ‘Entertainment’ package will become ‘Entertainment Plus’ and there will be a new ‘Entertainment’ plan in its place, which excludes some key content.
At present existing customers of the base ‘Entertainment‘ plan typically enjoy access to NOW TV Entertainment (i.e. some of Sky’s premium channels), Netflix Standard with Ads and access to HBO Max Basic with Ads (as well as the usual Freeview TV channels etc.). But this will now be named to ‘Entertainment Plus‘, while the new / base ‘Entertainment’ plan will lose HBO Max access.
The ‘Big Entertainment‘ plan, which previously added NOW Cinema with all the Sky movie channels to the above feature list, is being withdrawn from new sale. The ‘Big Sport‘ plan will also be renamed to ‘Sport Plus‘, while both the base ‘Sport‘ and renamed ‘Sport Plus’ plans will be upgraded to support High Definition (HD) channels and content.

The base ‘Sport’ plan still includes access to TNT Sports (albeit now with HD), while ‘Sport Plus’ still adds the NOW Sports (i.e. Sky Sports channels) content and NOW Boost to this (i.e. Full HD streaming, better sound, and extra simultaneous devices).
Customers on EE will also still be able to add the ‘Full Works‘ TV plan, which supports NOW Entertainment & HBO Max, Netflix Standard, NOW Cinema, TNT Sports, NOW Sports and the NOW Boost. At the time of writing we don’t currently know how the pricing for these plans will change.

So is this story about less for more money then, or at best the same price for less?
Cant work out what’s really happening.
If you do an order creation Entertainment is £10 per month for an introductory offer and Entertainment Plus is being priced at £15 per month as an introductory offer plus the usual cost increases each April.
But as you are able to upgrade and downgrade it would be interesting to see if you could downgrade to entertainment if you were not interested in HBO Max with Ads and swap the pro box for the edge box.
I also expect unhappy customers that Big Entertainment is gone as some don’t see the bigger picture that you can add Now Cinema as an add on.
So Entertainment is currently £10pm, and Entertainment Plus is £18pm… the only difference is the addition of HBO Max (Basic with Ads)… which you can buy directly from HBO for £4.99… why would anyone buy it through EE?
I think someone may have got their pricing a bit wrong there!

When does this change kick in? I have Sport (TNT Sports in SD but HBO Max Sport access) and being able to watch TNT Sports HD on the EE box wouldn’t be a bad thing but im confused as to when this kicks in and if its an automatic upgrade as such!
I remember when BT TV used to have a wide selection of channels such as Discovery and Nat Geo and it really was a Sky rivalling service. Then it all went and it just became Now TV.
Used to be so much better when ISPs used to be just that, plus the home. Before they wanted to sell us everything else. Even my provider has some sort of TV service. Don’t seem to be pushing it as I have heard nothing from them about it, apart from one email a while back to say it was on it’s way.
