Fixed wireless ISP VFast (Orbitalnet), which serves a large swathe of Kent in South East England, has overcome their recent problems with fibre eating rats (here) to quietly reveal fresh details about its new up to 50Mbps (Megabits per second) capable superfast broadband packages.
The new packages come in a variety of different flavours with a selection of speeds, usage allowances and contract terms. The cheapest Airfibre Lite option costs just £4.50 plus £10 “Vlink rental” (i.e. £14.50 a month) and includes a 5GB usage allowance, up to 50Mbps downloads (1Mbps upload), 24 month contract, free 300Mbps capable router and free install (costs £99 if you take a 12 month contract).

By comparison the top Airfibre Ultimate package gives you speeds of up to 50Mbps (10Mbps uploads) with “unlimited” usage for a respectable £29.99 per month. Each package also comes with up to 5 Vfast email accounts, VoIP telephone line, personal webspace and online or telephone support.
At present the new packages have only “been launched in some areas” (Tweet), such as the village of St Nicholas (St Nicholas-at-Wade) in the Thanet District of Kent and Old Wives Lees. The new “high capacity” network is expected to run alongside VFast’s existing network until all customers are eventually migrated.
