ISP PlusNet UK Confirms Phone and Broadband Price Hikes

Thursday, August 1st, 2013 (4:06 pm) - Score 1,361

Internet and phone provider PlusNet has today joined TalkTalk by announcing a series of phone and broadband price hikes that will be introduced from 1st October 2013.

The primary changes will see Line Rental (currently £13.99 a month) increase to £14.99 a month (applicable to Home Phone packages taken [and not changed] before May 8th 2013) and those taking the Talk Anytime or Talk Anytime International call plans will shortly pay 50p extra a month.

Elsewhere PlusNet confirmed that they will be introducing a surcharge of £1.50 on all their standalone Value and Extra broadband-only and related fibre optic based broadband-only products (i.e. where line rental and calling plans are not held with Plusnet).

Customers will also now have to give 14 days notice if they want to cancel instead of the previous 10 days and the broadband cessation charge will increase from £25 to £30.

Finally call set up fees (where applicable) will increase to 13.87p and the price of chargeable calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers will change to 8.41p per minute at all times. The price of calls to UK mobiles will change to 12p per minute at all times. Full details about all this and some other charge / changes can be found HERE.

    PN states:
introducing a surcharge of £1.50 on all their standalone Value and Extra broadband-only

Being on a Mkt 1 exchange, I am being ripped of enough, as my phone is with BT does this imply my £12.99 per month will rise to £14.49
    Is so – Goodbye !

whats with this company and others with price hikes they all the same lately all greedy getz and for line rental its not worth the money as it is never mind adding more money . rip off britain like the poxy government .

“whats with this company and others with price hikes”

It’s partly the result of faux-competition in a vertically integrated monopoly.

    2. four_eyes says:

Erm other companies like crap talktalk and PN BT etc

  3. alan says:

Looking at my account with PN, the option left to me just to have Broadband with no phone is increasing to £15.49
Cant change my phone line to them as I am contracted to BT until Dec 2013
Surely they must be aware that customers like me, just cant change their phone line over without breaking a contract with another provider.

  4. Sledgehammer says:

This makes those small ISP’s with monthly contracts look even more inviting.

  5. Greg says:

I phoned Plusnet CS a few minutes ago for clarification … if you’re on one of the Essentials
or Unlimited packages without line rental, the upcoming £1.50 surcharge does not apply.

    1. Patrick says:

So is this for new customers from Sept? They’ve already just increased their standalone BB charges by about £2.50.

  6. chris says:

Try your calls.net phone line rental £9.99pcm broadband from £6.50pcm, independent service provider.
