The £24.6m Connecting Shropshire project in England has revealed a new list of 25 telephone exchange areas that will benefit from an upgrade to BT’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) network, which should be expanded to reach 93% of local premises by the end of Spring 2016 (excluding the separate Telford & Wrekin).
Several upgrade announcements for the early 2014 (here) and spring 2014 (here) period have already been revealed, while the latest batch should begin going live by summer 2014. Overall 62,000 premises are expected to benefit from the expanded network coverage and today’s update, combined with the prior two, represents the half-way point of more than 30,000.

Work to complete the latest phase is due to complete by the end of Spring 2015 and this also includes some additional infill work in Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Market Drayton and Oswestry (i.e. expanding coverage in areas that can already get FTTC).
