Alternative wireless and fibre optic ISP Voneus has today continued their acquisition spree by gobbling Swindon-based managed data comms and CCTV provider Lde Smart Alarms, which should help the provider to grow its enterprise-grade connectivity solutions and support staff.
Voneus’ fixed wireless broadband network, which can deliver unlimited symmetric speeds of ‘up to’ 50Mbps to residential customers, is currently available in 50 rural communities across the UK. The network spans parts of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, Devon, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, South Wales, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Wiltshire.
The provider has grown rapidly over the past few months, not least thanks to the acquisition of several rivals (e.g. SugarNet and Cotswold Wireless) and Lde is the latest to be scooped.

Graham Wallace, CFO of Voneus, said:
“The team at Lde has carved out a great reputation for delivering ultra-reliable managed services to organisations with very specialist requirements. Much like Voneus, Lde understands the challenges associated with serving rural locations, so we see great synergies between the two companies. By joining forces, we are in a better position to close the digital divide for the UK’s rural businesses.”
Founded in 1988, Lde has provided bespoke managed services to approximately 50 corporate customers. It specialises in delivering managed data networks, CCTV and a range of telephony and mobile services to organisations operating multiple sites, often in remote locations.
One crucial point here is that Lde filed for administration in mid-February 2018 and Voneus’ acquisition reflects a move to rescue the business.
