Customers of cable ISP Virgin Media Business can now access a new flexible mobile data plan, which for example would allow small and medium sized businesses to buy a company-wide data pool of up to 1000GB (GigaBytes) per month and then share it across a group of SIM cards / devices.
The data provided on each SIM can also be increased or decreased each month, albeit while staying within the overall company allowance. The idea is that VMB’s new approach should be easier than the alternative of having to manage multiple contracts with different allowances. Similar data sharing services like this already exist for consumers on some other networks.
A flexible approach to pricing has also been taken. For example, an entrepreneur could take two SIM cards with a 10GB pool of data from just £25 +vat per month, while a small office might instead take ten SIMs and 100GB of data from £125 per month.
Meanwhile any out of allowance data use charges are capped at £1 per GB per day.
Rob Orr, VMB Executive Director (Commercial), said:
“By bringing together the data businesses need, the handsets staff want and the flexibility to automatically share that data as needed, our mobile data sharer plan is making it easier than ever for businesses to keep connected on the go.”
Each SIM comes with all of the usual features, such as unlimited UK calls and texts, discounts on Voom Fibre broadband and the option of various handset choices with costs spread over the length of a 24 or 36 month contract. VMB uses EE’s (BT) mobile network for their MVNO platform, which also benefits from Free WiFi via more than 3.5 million UK hotspots and EU roaming at no extra cost.
