UK ISP Exascale Extend MPLS Network to Wolverhampton and Telford

Thursday, May 2nd, 2019 (7:08 am) - Score 1,456

Business ISP Exascale has announced that “unprecedented demand” during Q1 2019 has caused them to extend their carrier grade MPLS network to Wolverhampton and Telford, which they say will support a range of “competitively priced” uncontented gigabit Point-to-Point Ethernet and contended FTTP services in selected areas.

It’s noted that the new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service is expected to get a formal announcement soon (not yet fully unveiled). Elsewhere local businesses will also be able to take advantage of the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher (GBVS) scheme in order to cut their installation costs by up to £2,500 (£500 for home owners in related areas).

Meanwhile the provider added that they currently offer speeds of 10Mbps through to 10Gbps MPLS and internet connectivity nationally from all of their on-net datacentres, core network nodes and throughout the United Kingdom and Europe using their strategic connectivity partners.

Thomas Bibb, Exascale’s Technical Director, told ISPreview.co.uk:

“Exascale’s full fibre rollout will focus upon both residential and business estates with a ratio of 10 houses per every business connected. Planning has already started for the Exascale full fibre rollout and specific areas will be announced within the coming weeks.

[We] anticipate covering a 10KM radius of [our] core network nodes in both Wolverhampton and Telford within the next 12-18 months. Exascale will publish towards the end of Q4 2019, their wholesale proposition for their full fibre network. Allowing channel partners to take advantage of their rapidly expanding UK network.”

The ISP, which believes the introduction of their ultrafast fibre network will “improve the local economy and create jobs“, added that their carrier grade network is now present and on-net in data centres and core network nodes throughout the United Kingdom (e.g. Edinburgh, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Telford, Cheltenham and London).
