City focused FTTP/B broadband ISP Hyperoptic, which covers more than 400,000 UK premises with their 1Gbps capable network (mostly large apartment blocks), has today launched a new pricing plan, where customers can choose to lock-in a no-price-rise promise, free speed upgrade and the ability to cancel anytime with no exit fee.
At present new customers can pick from either an unlimited broadband & phone bundle or a broadband-only (standalone) service on a 12 month minimum contract term. You can also get a “no contract” option (broadband-only), but this tends to cost a few pounds extra per month.
Standalone broadband prices currently start from £19.95 per month (discounted) for a 50Mbps package and rise to £47 for their top symmetric 1Gbps speed tier. Both currently attract a £29 one-off activation fee and you can add a phone (voice) service to that by paying an extra +£2 per month.
However Hyperoptic are adding an additional choice of contract plan for these tiers, which is called Super Flex and runs for a longer 24 month term with additional benefits.
Hyperoptic’s Revised Contract Options
– A 12-month plan, with a no-price-rise promise and an annual upgrade offer
– A monthly rolling contract, with just 30-days notice and no exit fees
– A Super Flex plan, with a 24-month no-price-rise promise, free speed upgrade and cancel anytime with no exit fee
Sadly the press release doesn’t clarify how package pricing may differ for those who take out a Super Flex plan, but we are awaiting a response (at the time of writing their website didn’t list it yet). Meanwhile a new survey of 2,000 people by OnePoll, commissioned by Hyperoptic, found that 54.70% of Brits would be more attracted to an ISP that doesn’t charge exit fees for early cancellation and 85% feel that providers do not reward loyalty.
Charles Davies, MD of Hyperoptic, said:
“We are committed to listen to consumers and do things differently. As well as being the fastest and fairest provider, we also want to be the most flexible. To achieve this, we wanted to put customers in the driving seat and have them take control. By locking us in, rather than the other way around, means that they can be assured they are getting the best service in the market. The obligation is on us to keep them!”
The provider currently has an ambition to cover 2 million homes by the end of 2021 and then possibly 5 million by 2024 (here).
I do not think that’s (I think) even available where I live which is Islington (I think).
