Cityfibre has today confirmed that they’ll invest £30m to rollout their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network to cover “almost every home and business” in the two neighbouring towns of Warwick and Leamington Spa in Warwickshire (England).

Construction work on the new full fibre network in Warwick and Leamington Spa has already begun in the Warwick All Saints & Woodloes Ward areas, but it will take a few years to complete (the first areas will go live long before that). As usual, the operator will face some local competition from gigabit-capable rivals, such as Virgin Media (VMO2) and Openreach, as well as the odd smaller player.

NOTE: Cityfibre is supported by ISPs such as Vodafone (Gigafast Broadband), TalkTalk (Future Fibre), Zen Internet, Giganet, iDNET and others, but they aren’t all live or available in every location yet.

The new build will form part of Cityfibre’s wider £5bn+ project to cover up to 8 million premises – across around 285 cities, towns and villages (c.30% of the UK) – by the end of 2025 (here). So far, the operator has already covered 2 million UK premises – with 1.8m Ready For Service (RFS) via a supporting ISP (here). The network will also pass around 800k businesses, 400k local authority sites and 250k 5G access points.

Cityfibre’s Area Manager, Bashir Ahmed, said:

“We’re thrilled to announce that our full fibre network is coming to Warwick and Leamington Spa, which will future-proof the area’s digital infrastructure for decades to come. We cannot wait for the local community to experience the many benefits of full fibre connectivity – from smooth digital entertainment experiences to unbeatable homeworking – once our build partners install the network.”

End.
