EE UK Launches New Norton Powered Cyber Security Packages

Broadband ISP and mobile operator EE UK has today taken the wraps off their new Norton powered online “Cyber Security” solution. In addition, the operator has launched a Norton powered annual identity check service to help customers quickly see if their personal information has been found on the dark web.

The new Cyber Security service is exclusively available from launch to EE’s Pay Monthly mobile customers via two packages, Cyber Security Duo (designed to help protect up to 2 devices) and Cyber Security Multi (designed to help protect up to 15 devices).

Both come attached to a flexible 30-day rolling contract plan. Customers can thus add Cyber Security Duo to their existing plan for an extra £2 per month or £5 for Cyber Security Multi.

Features of EE’s Cyber Security Service

• Dark Web Monitoring. Monitoring a customers personal information on the dark web including email addresses, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, phone numbers, driver’s licence number and notify them should it be found.
• Social Media Monitoring**. Monitors a customer’s account on the most popular social media sites and notifies them of suspicious activity, like changes to their account settings, unusual logins and risky links in their posts.
• Device Security. Offers real-time protection for Windows™ PC, Mac® or Android™* devices against ransomware, viruses, spyware, malware, and other online threats. It also monitors and helps block unauthorised traffic, as well as helping to protect a customers private and financial information when they’re online.
• SMS Security. Helps identify text messages with unsafe links and notifies customers so they don’t put their personal information at risk. It works seamlessly on Android and iOS devices. But Apple’s iMessages platform is NOT supported.
• Report Card. Provides a summary of all the activities that the service has done to help protect the customer, their device and the information stored on it in the last 30 days.
• Norton^TM Password Manager. Gives customers tools to generate and manage their passwords more securely and in one place.

** Only available on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. On Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn only account takeover feature is available. Does not include monitoring of chats or direct messages. May not identify all cyberbullying, explicit, or illegal content or hate speech.

EE has also launched a free, annual online check through the EE website. The new EE annual identity check Powered by NortonTM services gives customers an easy and fast way to find out if their email address has been exposed on the dark web. All customers have to do is visit ee.co.uk/security/cyber-security, click ‘check my email’, log in to their My EE account, enter their email address and run a scan.

However, customers can only check “one email address per year” (this seems like a very odd limitation), and once the scan’s been done, they’ll get both the results and some tips on how to help keep their details more secure in the future. Alternatively, customers could also use the ‘Have I Been Pwned‘ website, which isn’t as restrictive about how many emails you can check.
