Gigabit broadband ISP YouFibre, which sells packages via Netomnia and Cityfibre’s respective 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks – across different parts of the United Kingdom, has today reported that they now have a total customer base of 50,000 (up from 22,000 at the start of 2023 and 45,000 in August 2023).
At present YouFibre’s main network supplier is still Netomnia, which currently covers well over 600,000 UK premises (August 2023) in parts of over 70 towns and aims to reach 1 million premises across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland by early 2024 (coverage plan – plus additions here, here and here). A minority of their users also come from CityFibre’s network – specifically around the Middlesbrough area (North Yorkshire).
Put another way, YouFibre has doubled its customers in the last five months, making it one of the fastest-growing broadband providers in the UK. The company is also committing to 24/7 UK-based customer services for all customers and no in-contract price rises. Plus, it’s lowered the price of its 1000Mbps (1Gbps) plan to just £27.99 and recently launched one of the first 8Gbps packages [7Gbps average speed] (here).

Ryan Battle, YouFibre’s Managing Director, said:
“We believe everyone should have access to broadband that they can count on. That’s why, street by street, home by home, we’re on a mission to connect the UK with ultrafast, ultrareliable, affordable internet, along with unbeatable customer service.
We’re absolutely delighted to have made this dream a reality for 50,000 customers across the country. However, this is just the beginning for us. With a bold new look, a completely distinct customer offering, and ambitious growth plans, we’re incredibly excited for what’s to come.”
The service, once live, is typically supplied to consumers alongside unlimited usage, symmetrical speeds, a Wi-Fi router and free installation. Customers pay from just £21.99 per month on a 24-month term for their unlimited 150Mbps package (£29.99 thereafter), which rises to just £29.99 £27.99 if you want their 900Mbps plan (£39.99 thereafter) or £99.99 for 7Gbps (£129.99 thereafter). The provider also offers a social tariff at £15 per month for 50Mbps to those on benefits.
However, there are a couple of areas where YouFibre could still improve their website, such as with respect to the fact that they require you to share personal details before being able to see the results from their availability checker. The order system and product pages also make no mention of the post-contract prices for their packages, but in fairness they have at least got a Price Book that shows this – even if you have to hunt in their terms section for it.
Would be 50,001 if they rolled out Tonypandy. 😉
Other full fibre providers are available in Tonypandy
Other full fibre providers are available in *some of* Tonypandy
And ironically I bet YouFibre won’t cover all of Tonypandy either.
Good luck!
Sort out Bedford please YF/NO. Cables have been in the ground 13 months now and I would very much like to be a customer. The checker has gone from you’ll be getting it soon to “not available in your area” now.
Great if you can get it…
50,002 if they stuck to their original Netomnia letter delivered through door and rolled out to my address too….I’d even take the 8GB service….
Moved over two weeks ago, pleased with the service.
Upgraded to their 2Gbps package from 1Gbps last week, zero complaints at the speed or their installer.
Just wish they had a customer portal on their website!
Also I’m sure the requirement to provide personal details wasn’t there when I signed up in March as I remember checking availability for a few friends in quick succession
Hope to see plenty of folks on the 8000. Great product and previously conspicuous by its absence in the UK.
Civils are still creeping my way. I was hoping using PIA the deployment would have been a bit quicker than it is. Impatiently waiting 😀
Let’s go, they deserve it. I can see big things for this company
Im unsuprised given how cheap their packages are.
But moving other telecoms equipment from telephone poles to make room for theirs is a joke.
I’d also bite their hands off for service, but I’m told they are still ‘designing the spine of the network’ in my town.
I know they hover around these forums … so a quiet request for Berkhamsted to be back on the map after disappearing…
We do but I believe another AltNet is doing it…If not then we will be back!
They were pulling fibre about three weeks ago outside my house, so looking forward to them going live and the savings I make would pay for a music streaming subscription,
I have been waiting 13 months since they put the cable in. I am tearing my hair out over here but i’m not going to pester i’ll get it when I get it.
I suspect as we already have FTTP they will go live fairly quickly.
AltNet take up rate is terrible. 50,000 subscribers from 600,000 Netomnia plus the small number from City Fibre.
As a comparison VM have 5m from a potential 15m and they charge more.
Say average YouFibre customer is paying £40 a month, that is only £24m a year with gods knows how much they have had to invest.
And it’s still profitable for them –

It would be fairer if you excluded areas where potential customers are still locked in a contract — I’d suggest only looking at premises which have been live for 3+ years.
Simple question for you: how long ago was nearly all of the VM network built?
20+ years.
Okay, now how long ago was Netomnia’s network built?
10% of it was built in the last couple of months.
Think that might be related? VM’s new areas get to 20-30% after 3 years. Give Netomnia, etc, some time: they’re at 30% here after a year.
I thought people would learn by now that they shouldn’t look into take up rate too much for at least few years after deployment.:) I believe most of the 600k was built recently.
Even though service is available to people, they still might wait for their current contract to run out (unless Netomnia decide to pay up the cancellation fee and steal customer) before signing up new broadband service.
OneMan is correct, we built the 600k last week while connecting 50k of them…Joke aside we more than double our customer base over the last 6 months and almost double the size of the network…We need more time!
£33.33 a month, Oneman as you forgot about VAT.
They’re building fast to get more customers onboard so that they can spread all the fixed costs between a larger customer base.
You have 100 people in your office and 10,000 customers each of them is paying 1% of the staff’s TCOE (Total Cost of Employment) alongside the various other costs. Change that to 50,000 customers without growing the staff significantly and the numbers get better.
The build is a race to scale. Economies of scale are absolutely needed and that means spending on building fast, which in turn means take up looks low due to pace of build.
About 12% of customers change ISP each year. Altnets know this and should’ve planned accordingly. They may increase the churn a bit depending on the competition but that’s the baseline uptake in a year if they can grab everyone churning in a reasonably well served area.
Rural areas they expect higher takeup faster as the competition is weaker, balanced by much higher build costs and, hence, interest payments.
These folks need enough customers to pay their operating costs, including leasing Openreach plant, and their interest repayments on debt. If they are on the way to doing that they’re in a good place. It’s a capital intensive project, losses are to be expected initially and there’ll be curves of uptake expectation.
Please carry on building Didcot. It’s gone awfully quiet over the last 6 weeks.
Think they’re in Abingdon trying to get some build there done before Openreach and F&W.
According to One Network they are working around Brasenose road on 3rd of Oct
Placed order in Sept. 2021, after YouFibre contacted us and the service sounded great with an expected 9-12 month go live date. 2 years on and only a very small area of Canterbury can actually order the service, can’t see any CT2 post code that is accepting orders. Many promises from Netomnia on when it would go live throughout 2022 and 2023, but every month rolls by and there appears to be little progress. But hopefully it will arrive one of these days as from what others have said the service is good and price is great. But without me contacting Netomnia I would never have received any detailed updates on the preorder with YouFibre, as according to YouFibre the build is still only planned waiting on sub contractors to be scheduled. However, Netomnia subcontractors pulled fibre through our estate back in March and Netomnia last said they should have it all complete for our area in Sept. But I’ve heard that line every month for the last 7 months. Hopefully it rolls by one day, but I do regret not re-contracting with my current ISP last year to have saved a bit. Would love the 8Gbps but probably settle for 2gbps as all our PCs have 2.5Gb nics.
If Jeremy from Netomnia is in these comments still do you have any information on your rollout to Brampton near Huntingdon, I’d absolutely love to be your first customer here!
