New Northern Ireland Based UK Broadband ISP Netii Launches

A new Belfast-based internet service provider has recently started to launch called Netii, which appears to be selling packages to homes and businesses via the Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based gigabit broadband networks of both Openreach (via Gamma) and Fibrus (via HyperFast in N.Ireland).

Packages prices are said to start from £38 per month with speeds from 100Mbps to 1Gbps and customers will receive a UniFi Cloud Gateway Express Wi-Fi7 router with their fibre line + router bundles, although a bring-your-own-router (BYOR) option does exist for line-only installs. The provider also includes a Static IP address and a 24-month fixed price promise, with support teams all based in Northern Ireland.

The name of the ISP might be new, but the company behind it has actually been around since 2018 – operating as Home Network Solutions NI. However, they’ve since gone through somewhat of a full rebrand and relaunch to become Netii, although at the time of writing it appears as if they haven’t yet managed to complete an online ordering system and thus package details seem to only available via the phone.

Finally, we understand that Netii may soon be making packages available via Zen’s new Fibre Hub wholesale platform too, which could potentially give them access to sell over a number of additional alternative full fibre networks.

With 100Mbps costing £38, wouldn’t expect the call handler to be going home exhausted, that’s if they are not already waiting/hoping for a call at home! 🙂

Maybe they are aiming for quality rather than cheap

Some odd choices of supplier, Openreach network via Gamma means the supply chain is Openreach -> BT Wholesale -> Gamma -> Netti can’t be much margin for anyone in that chain. Very odd choice for a consumer ISP

Not the wisest move, 95% of consumers wont care about having ubiquiti products. Granted they are decent, but the 5% are bound to see its wiser to buy it yourself second hand and go for the best fttp deal, as most can offer PPPoE credentials and you save money long term. Unless they make the price competitive, I cant see there being sufficient uptake.

You’re shooting yourself in the foot before you even start.
You need really competitive prices – not 100Mbps for £38.
I can get 900Mbps for less than £38! WiFi 7 is overkill.
If you want to make a killing – then offer killer prices.

They also shot themselves in the foot with their website. From what i see you have to ring them to get a quote per speed you want. Maybe its just me but their site isnt too clear. The fact you have to give them your email address as well will put people off. Correct me if i’m wrong.

Does this mean that fibrus will finally have some competition on the network here in NI? They currently have a monopoly on the network interested under project stratum.
