Mobile network operator Lyca Mobile, which in the UK is a virtual operator (MVNO) on EE’s network, has today committed to a price freeze on its Pay Monthly plans for the rest of 2026, which is said to be following in the footsteps of Tesco Mobile and Spusu by bucking the wider trend of traditional mobile contracts which feature mid-contract price rises.
Typically, many broadband and mobile providers tend to apply mid-contract price rises each year, often in March and April, communicated in the contract, which Lyca said “piles pressure on consumers battling rising costs“. But Lyca said their approach is “intended to stop mid-contract price rises and hidden fees within pay monthly plans“.
Prem Sivasamy, Deputy Chairman of Lyca Mobile, said: “Lyca Mobile has never increased the price mid-contract since the launch of our pay monthly products. We know how vital connectivity is, and we are committed to keeping our mid-contract price freeze in place. Our focus is on providing reliable, affordable mobile services that people can depend on, especially during challenging economic times.”

Even if Lyca were free, it’s not worth the hassle. I cancelled my kids accounts after I was unable to update a payment card and their CS turned out to be completely useless. I’ve been getting emails thanking me for my prompt payment of £0.00 every month for over a year now even though I migrated them elsewhere.
