Canadian firm Genesis Technical Systems (GTS) has today announced the official launch of its patented DSLRings technology, which could deliver superfast broadband speeds of up to 400Mbps (Megabits per second) into UK homes that reside further away from their BT street cabinet than FTTC can currently reach.

National UK cable operator Virgin Media has begun the final phase of their plan to double its customers broadband speeds by upgrading their existing 100Mbps (Megabits per second) subscribers to the slightly faster download rate of 120Mbps (12Mbps uploads).

Calix, a supplier of communications equipment, has today announced that its E7-2 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP) will be used by a new £40m housing project in Derwenthorpe (Yorkshire, UK) to help supply over 540 homes with fibre optic (FTTP) broadband ISP speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps).

BTOpenreach has announced a new short term process change for ISP customers, which is designed to help cope with the on-going engineer delays (caused by bad weather). The new initiative aims to give certain business customers a faster provision of service (phone and broadband) but only if it’s absolutely necessary.
