Media and Internet giant Sky Broadband has today made a new Sky Wireless Booster device available for free to their new and existing UK customers. On top of that their standard and fibre unlimited broadband packages are being offered at half price for the first 6-12 months of service.

New customers who wish to take BT’s entry-level ‘up to’ 38Mbps superfast broadband (FTTC) package, better known as BTInfinity 1, will be displeased to learn that its monthly usage allowance has been brutally cut from 40GB (GigaBytes) to a meagre 20GB and the standard price of £15 a month is unchanged.

One of our readers has spotted that the price of PlusNet’s 16Mbps unlimited standard broadband and free weekend calls bundle has quietly been cut once again, from £9.99 to just £1.99 a month, for the first 12 months of service (note: it’s also on a 12 month contract).

It’s the Christmas war of the voucher cards again. New customers who sign-up to a broadband bundle from BT, Virgin Media or TalkTalk are for the next week or two being offered a variety of special account credits or voucher cards with their orders, some of which are worth up to £100 and stack with existing discounts.

Supermarket giant Tesco has started offering free broadband and calls for 12 months when taken alongside Home Phone line rental at £14.90 per month. Previously this promotion was only available to those who also purchased an Internet enabled device (e.g. tablet computer) from one of their stores.

PlusNet has cut the cost of its ‘up to’ 16Mbps unlimited standard broadband and free weekend calls package to just £2.75 a month for the first 12 months of service (£9.99 thereafter) and their Unlimited Fibre Broadband (up to 76Mbps) has also dropped to £12.75 for the first 4 months (£19.99 thereafter).

Budget communications provider Direct Save Telecom has cut the one-off price for new residential line installations by around 40% from £49.95 to only £29.95, which is of course subject to the customer taking out a service linked to an 18 month contract term.

Budget ISP TalkTalk has officially introduced its new triple-play Essentials TV (phone, broadband and television) bundle today, which at £7.50 per month has managed to carve out a small space between their £2.50 SimplyBroadband and £10 Plus TV services. The primary difference appears to be in the free calls and budget YouView (IPTV) set-top-box.

The mobile division of TalkTalk has today introduced a new super cheap SIM-only plan that costs just £3.50 a month for 100 minutes, 250 texts and a 200MB (MegaByte) data allowance for Mobile Broadband usage (doubled from 100MB when ordered online).

Budget ISP TalkTalk has cut the price of its triple-play unlimited broadband, TV (IPTV / YouView) and anytime UK phone calls bundle from £15.50 to £10 a month for the first six months of service. A free £50 Love2shop voucher for new customers has also been included.

Tesco has launched a new promotion that gives customers 12 months of free unlimited broadband connectivity when they buy “any device that connects to the Internet” through the supermarket chain, such as laptops, tablets (e.g. Tescos new Hudl tablet), smartphones, Smart TV’s and games consoles etc.

Internet provider Andrews and Arnold (AAISP) has once again doubled the default data usage allowance on its Home Broadband (Home::1) package from 50GB (GigaBytes) to 100GB at no extra cost, with the package remaining at a price of £25 inc. VAT per month.
