Broadband ISP TalkTalk has this week informed staff of their plan to formally demerge the group into three separate businesses for consumers, businesses and wholesale. Under the plan, the full legal demerger aims to be completed by 1st March 2024, but some redundancies are expected.

Broadband ISP and mobile network operator Vodafone are to shift some of their Customer Care teams from the UK to South Africa and Egypt. The outsourcing move, which is planned to take place in November 2023, may help to lower the operator’s costs but will also put hundreds of jobs at risk.

Budget UK ISP TalkTalk, which is currently already in the process of trying to deal with pressure from its existing debts by selling off parts of their business (here and here), managed to secure some vital support at the end of last week after global investment firm KKR agreed to provide them with a £75m non-recourse financing facility.

CityFibre has confirmed to ISPreview that they’ve recently taken the decision to exit a number of UK full fibre (FTTP) broadband contracts with build partners for a variety of reasons. One of those is known to be the Kier Group, which held various contracts for places such as Weston-Super-Mare, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath and Worcester etc.
