Alternative UK network ISP Jurassic Fibre, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across parts of Somerset, Devon and Dorset (here), has finally confirmed that their next rollout location will be the coastal town of Sidmouth and its surrounding villages.

Customers of broadband ISP Virgin Media, specifically those in the Devon area of England around Exeter and Plymouth, are this morning reporting that their internet connectivity and TV service has gone down after the operator was hit by an unspecified network fault.

Full fibre UK broadband ISP Jurassic Fibre, which has an ambition to cover 350,000 premises across South West England with their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises network (here and here), has opened a new office space and warehouse in Honiton (Devon) – transforming an old 2.2 acre site on the Bramble Hill Industrial Estate.

Full Fibre Limited, which is currently building a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network to cover “at least” 500,000 UK premises by 2025, has today named the next batch of 11 rural and semi-urban towns to benefit from their rollout (reflecting a coverage increase of c.100,000 premises).

The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme has today issued a progress update on their new Phase 2 contracts with ISPs Airband, Wessex Internet and Truespeed, which are worth a combined £80m (including £23.6m of public investment) and aim to improve broadband coverage to 56,396 premises (mostly rural areas).

The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme has today issued a progress update on Airband’s deployment of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based ultrafast broadband (100Mbps+) network in North Devon, which has just gone live in Kentisbury Ford as part of the Fibre Extension Programme (FEP).

Rural focused gigabit broadband ISP Gigaclear, which aims to cover 500,000 UK properties with their full fibre (FTTP) network by the end of 2023 (here), has announced that they will build their network to a further 18,500 premises in the South West of England during 2021.

The Connecting Devon and Somerset team will be hoping that the third time is a charm after they awarded £80m worth of contracts for Phase 2 of their delayed “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) rollout project, which sees 6 LOTS being split between three suppliers (Airband, Truespeed and Wessex Internet).

Cityfibre has announced that their plan to rollout a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the large UK town of Reading (Berkshire), the city of Gloucester (Gloucestershire) and Plymouth (Devon), costing £58m, £31m and £52m respectively, is due to begin in January 2021.
